This was easy to set up, the message playback is of good quality and at this price, very good value
However, for the price paid it is a great value and I would highly recommend.
I'm going to give 5 stars because this is such a good value.
The answering device is very convenient and is a great value
Everything else worked just fine, but the recorded messages are so fuzzy with static as to be impossible to understand, whether listening on the external speaker or when calling in from a different line.
What can you purchase these days for UNDER 20 dollars that actually WORKS as advertised and is of real substance? Right!Almost nothing...except this little answering machine
Two minor issues I noticed right away were (1) the voice playback on the 1740 is not as clear as on the 1739, and (2) the LED counter on the 1740 is not as large or bright as the 1739.
Now no more worries as to who is calling
Even AT & T support could not get it to record messages
I can't really say that it works as advertised as I have not used all of the features and never will.
I only wanted a simple, easy to use, replacement for my dead answering machine.
Everything else worked just fine, but the recorded messages are so fuzzy with static as to be impossible to understand, whether listening on the external speaker or when calling in from a different line.
While one can purchase much more expensive answering machines, this one has all the needed features and works quite well.
It's fine for a cheap answering machine and does everything it's supposed to do.
Great little answering machine easy set up and features
If you're reading this AT&T...PLEASE think about the ridiculous lack of consideration that was made by leaving out this design feature!!In all my years of using answering machine, starting in the 1970's, I have NEVER had a machine that lacked this feature
The most annoying feature is the loud crackling on the messages
I really like the caller ID feature, except that it calls out the phone number a little too quickly
Because of this machine I was able to get rid of voice mail and all the other extra spendy features on my landline, so I am saving 50% a month ($25) on my phone bill
But it has one extremely annoying design defect that causes me to deduct two stars: you CANNOT defeat the call screening feature.
And smack the engineer who designed a modern digital system and incorporated the disruptive sound of an '80s answering machine
Love it great answering machine matches room well, very simple easy to use great for my business, great sound
It does exactly what I need it to do, has clear sound, is easy to use, and was pretty easy to set up.
This was so easy to set up, easy to use and clear sound at a great price.
It developed a problem where it showed one message on display but when I hit the button to listen to it the only sound was the very quiet white noise from an open input circuit to an amplifier.
The messages now come through loud and clear and it's easy enough for her to use.
It was easy to set up, messages are clear and it was inexpensive
It's very easy to use, and the volume is good and messages are clear and easy to hear.
Worked great the first month or two, but now recorded incoming messages have so much static it's almost impossible to tell who's calling much less understand the message.
I am usually not available when this machine answers the phone, so I don't hear how loud the messages are when being recorded hence the need for the machine in the first place
After the person hangs up, the machine keeps the phone as "unhooked" and recording louder crackling until the "off the hook sound" beeps twice and then the machine finally disconnects
The most annoying feature is the loud crackling on the messages
Two minor issues I noticed right away were (1) the voice playback on the 1740 is not as clear as on the 1739, and (2) the LED counter on the 1740 is not as large or bright as the 1739.
Everything else worked just fine, but the recorded messages are so fuzzy with static as to be impossible to understand, whether listening on the external speaker or when calling in from a different line.
However, if you plan on using it as a screening device, the loud crackling is nerve wrecking.
As soon as I have time I am going to figure out how to get rid of the annoying beep that signals an awaiting messageOther than that it is fine
its works good and did not cost a bundle on a b get this worth it not a waste of money tvm kn
The one I had before this (it failed) had an audible alarm - an intermittent beep
Beep is much less annoying than the previous ATT product I had.
and somehow my grandmother keeps putting this into spanish and people think its the wrong number when they call, and she doesnt hear the beeping (its not loud enough
We live in a small town and people still use our home number but during an election year it's been wonderful!!!
My last phone machine, which is at least 20 years old, was an analog one that cost $40, but after three people recently told me the machine hung up on them before they could leave a message, I decided I had better get a new machine
and somehow my grandmother keeps putting this into spanish and people think its the wrong number when they call, and she doesnt hear the beeping (its not loud enough
It is easy to use and I like that it repeats the callers phone number as many times people say it so fast you can't get it without listening to the message over an over.
