The value for the radios is amazing, we had been purchasing Motorola radios for $400-$650 and now have completely gone to these.

Either way given the poorer than normal quality of the antenna, lack of working scramble function along with the failure to communicate with chirp, I would not recommend these radios

Sucks that it was a Christmas present and I can't return it now... one works, but not the other...

Earpiece is quite simple and leaves a little to be desired {think of an earbud with a mic remote threaded through a curved piece to go behind your ear}, but at this price it is what i expected and it does work well with clear reception and transmission.

This BaoFeng BF-888S worked pretty well: light weight, clear sound, decent distance, and easy to use

Bought this product in April 2017 and one of the radio does not work already!

I do not recommend this specific product after a month it quit working.

Although the company that sold it to me was very responsive, the product is very shoddy.

Worked great for a family trip using 2 cars.

Programming was easy using the free CHIRP software and a Baofeng USB cable..

To reprogram these for unlicensed use, you'll need a BF-S122 cable that ships from China

It took about 10 minutes to program two radios for unlicensed use in the US.The cable costs about $10, which is the price difference between the GT-22 radios which come with a USB charging/programming cable in the box

Also, despite what has been stated in other reviews, these radios are now (mostly) legal for unlicensed/family use if programmed correctly (emphasis on programmed correctly).

Spend a little more and buy the UV-82 series that will have much more power and already have the better antennas.

The antennas are a little fragile, I have had to replace couple.

If you need one, buy three, because there's a risk one will be DOA, or for some reason, won't accept programming, you'll lose the antenna of another, etc.

The plastic radome (covering the actual antenna wire) is not bonded to the antenna connector either, so the antenna falls off & you get to spend time re-tracing your steps trying to find it, and you eventually decide to buy a six or ten pack of replacement antennas, as I just did.
