Reviews around starter (4.63 of 5)

  • I think this is a great starter ukulele, the sound quality is decent, it comes in great shape and is very light
  • I'm learning how to play the ukulele and this is a good starter
  • Take care of it and keep it in a dry, not too sunny place its a great starter until you want to invest in a more expensive uke to play songs.
  • Not a bad starter, but it just isn't what I'll use when performing in front of people
  • It's a good starter, but I will be looking for a more quality uke, as I've become more serious about learning.

Reviews around beginner (4.46 of 5)

  • I have replaced the strings with nylon strings but the sound isn't as good as other beginner options.
  • Excellent beginner instrument, and for the price, could almost be considered disposable
  • Bottom line, it's a good beginner's instrument, and could be even better with a few minor enhancements.
  • Maybe they're not all like this, but on the one I got, the difference between the open G string and the first fret was closer to a whole step than a half step, but in between
  • Spend a little more for a bit better quality, even for a novelty or beginner use

Reviews around product (4.43 of 5)

  • It's a little bit hard to tune, but other than that, great product!
  • great product, looks and sounds good, so glad I purchased
  • Very cheap product.
  • This was such a horrible product that I had to return it.
  • This is a GREAT product for as little as you have to pay for it

Reviews around quality (4.17 of 5)

  • It's overall a great instrument and quality for the price
  • These strings were better but they kept falling out because the tuners are very cheap and poor quality
  • I recommend getting new strings, however, because the original strings are cheap quality and untune easily
  • I was happily surprised at the good quality of it for the price.
  • A string upgrade to Aquila strings helped significantly, but even then, the Okina still had a far worse sound quality at this price level

Reviews around gift (4.16 of 5)

  • It has a great sound, and it's a wonderful gift at a great price
  • This cheap plastic toy is a great gift for a 5 year old, but besides that its not good for anything else.
  • Maybe they're not all like this, but on the one I got, the difference between the open G string and the first fret was closer to a whole step than a half step, but in between
  • So, if you are looking for an instrument to play with choose better company, but if you want to buy a cheap gift for your child , this will do
  • I did change out the strings on this, but it was a great gift and the receiver loved it.

Reviews around daughter (4.16 of 5)

  • Maybe they're not all like this, but on the one I got, the difference between the open G string and the first fret was closer to a whole step than a half step, but in between
  • I bought this for my daughter as a cheap prop for an art project.
  • however, my daughter was SO excited to get her instrument and start playing - but the tuning knobs were not tightening the strings.. so we could not tune the uke.
  • I ordered this the beginning of January but my daughter was unable to begin lessons until February.
  • Great quality for the price, my daughter love her ukelele...

Reviews around sound (4.14 of 5)

  • Two of the 4 gears make horrible grinding sound and the inside is de-laminating.
  • Also, the A string makes a weird vibrating sound, and I've tried to fix
  • Other than that the uke has a great sound for it's so reasonable price
  • One string gave a dead buzzing sound even when it was supposedly tuned right.
  • For the price this has good sound and looks like quality wood.

Reviews around tune (3.91 of 5)

  • Didn't come tuned (probably because it fell out of tune along the way it was shipped here lmao)
  • Warped subtly enough that it's difficult to catch with the eye but very noticeable when tuning
  • First, also buy a Snark Tuner (or one like it), as it will lose a tune after about 20-30 minutes of playing.
  • My only complaint is its tuning doesn't stay put for long.
  • The strings tune well although they do not remain in tune for more than a few days out of the case, but that is to be expected

Reviews around uke (3.86 of 5)

  • I've enjoyed learning to play and the Diamond Head has been a good starter uke.
  • These are also good for bringing something around to jam with (when you don't want to carry around a more expensive uke)
  • Its a good uke to learn how to play before spending the money to get a nicer one.
  • the uke itself is nice, but the strings are plastic-y and harder to play
  • It's a cool uke for kids, but I don't recommend it for anyone who really wants to learn how to play

Reviews around instrument (3.84 of 5)

  • However the durability of it makes for a great instrument for the kids to play with.
  • Over all instrument sounds good, and the finish is awesome
  • Overall, it's not a bad investment if you want a cheap little instrument to experiment with.
  • This is a very good instrument for a beginner like myself.
  • The instrument cannot be blamed for the horrible sounds that it makes when i play it.

Reviews around advertise (2.54 of 5)

  • This is an example of false advertising - blatant false advertising
  • Overall I like it and would recommend, as long as you don't pay more than $35, and don't mind some QC issues.

Reviews around string (2.33 of 5)

  • This is normal and you simply have to break the strings in
  • These strings were better but they kept falling out because the tuners are very cheap and poor quality
  • The strings are strong and we still have all the originals on the instrument.
  • but you should have it in mind that if you enjoy playing you will need to invest in some better strings.
  • This uke looks nice for the price however the strings sound bad

Reviews around plastic (1.69 of 5)

  • Overall I like it and would recommend, as long as you don't pay more than $35, and don't mind some QC issues.
  • This cheap plastic toy is a great gift for a 5 year old, but besides that its not good for anything else.
  • The cheap plastic strings that come with it must be changed, though
  • I can't stand those cheap plastic ukulele they sell to tourists in Hawaii.
  • If that's the case can anyone recommend top quality plastic strings for it!

Reviews around knob (1.69 of 5)

  • Was broken when I got it (the knobs to tune the uke were busted
  • There was a newspaper INSIDE it, the knobs were all stiff and every string refused to stay tuned for more than 5 seconds
  • The knobs seem a bit cheap, and I think that's part of why it goes out of tune so easily, but hopefully it'll break in
  • Something decent o learn off of but falls out of tune really fast

Reviews around paint (1.54 of 5)

  • This thing worked for the first month but later the strings couldn't hold their tuning and the sides of the uke begin to crack from bad paint and temperature change.
  • The paint is a bit scratched in places especially on the
  • The uke has a muddy finish that looks like cheap paint rather than a proper wood finish.
  • Overall I like it and would recommend, as long as you don't pay more than $35, and don't mind some QC issues.
