This foot rest is just the right height (it does have 2 heights) for me when sitting at my desk.
My legs are short, but if I lower my chair to a comfortable height for my legs my desk is at my
I use mine without the base and it's just the right height.

Figuring out how to select the right height was a bit tricky at first, and the instructions that came with it are worse than useless, but I tried it different ways and ultimately it worked.

No, I didn't accidentally leave one behind--this footrest is very cheaply made, and it failed exactly the same way both times: While adjusting the tilt angle with my feet, the bits that hold the top piece into the bottom sliding piece broke off
