Except for the metal bolt & screw, the soft pad on top, and four rubber-like non-skid pads on the bottom, the footrest looks to be entirely made of extruded plastic.
I can't say for sure how it would hold up, but if the pad ever got dirty with mud or something, I'd try taking the top pad off and washing it in the kitchen sink with warm water and dish detergent, then letting it air dry.
I don't use it non-stop, it's good to switch it up, but the padding is very comforting without being too squishy/soft.

The memory foam is very comfortable especially if you can work without shoes (and socks for that matter)

The only thing I don't like about this memory foam feels little weird on my feet but other than that this is exactly what I needed it works even better than I thought it would A+ design A+ in craftsmanship would definitely buy again
I do not wear shoes in my home and the memory foam feels very good under my feet, much better than my carpet.
