Although the LG also plays HD DVD, I got it primarily for Blu Ray and DVD.- Very fast to load Blu Ray (much faster than my previous Sony and Samsung Blu Ray players).- Excellent DVD upconversion (leaves the Sony BDP 300 and Samsung 1200 (the ones I owned) in the dust)- Decodes all the HD audio formats (I make the player convert it to DTS and output to my receiver via optical - sounds great)- Nice form factor and excellent build quality
Great video quality, great upconversion and decodes the newest audio codecs as well (HDMI only)
You can still get awesome deals ($3 and up) if you shop around and still get that great picture quality

Apparently because of the HDMI cable connection that I am using (connecting both video and audio to the player in a single cable, supposedly to achieve the best definition and quality for each), the wide-zoom mode on my TV became disabled.

Once I got into the Setup menus and upped the brightness and adjusted the color, I had a crystal clear picture (on my LG LCD widescreen) and great audio through my Onkyo home theater system

Great picture, both High Def formats, firmware updates via LG's webpage, upconversion to 1080p of your old stock, the ability to enjoy the new formats without worring about the format wars, heck, what else do you need to know?

The sound is equally impressive, and, as of yet, I do not have any HDMI receivers, so I am using 5.1 channel DD and DTS surround sound, which is clear and crisp

I own the BH-100 and it plays both formats execellent as well as upconverting your existing DVD collection to 1080p!
But if you, like me, have an HD DVD collection, this is a great way to be able to continue to enjoy the format without replacing them with blu ray versions

Quite frankly, I always preferred the HD DVD format over Blu-Ray
so from here on out..if you want to win the next format war...just find out which one I choseand then choose the opposite

Written 8/31/08I want to add to my original review posted above: I just purchased two more of these LG BH200 combo players at Best Buy, where they were just on sale for $339.99
I bought 2 of these,the 2nd because the 1st worked so well one from best buy and the other from circut city before it closed down

The LGBH200 is a very very easy and simple blu ray player to use just plug in hdmi and power cord and you are ready to go it is also beautifull and has exeptional sound quality.
If not, the OPPO BDP-83 is the current best Blu-Ray player available.

This led me to the question of whether it also would appear to improve the definition of some DVDs that I produced and burned myself, for a letterbox type of widescreen appearance (which used to fill the complete screen of my widescreen TV's 1.78 x 1 aspect ratio, with the TV changing to its Wide-Zoom mode).
