Thing is, this unit is really good at what it primarily does, which is record several tracks at once

Unit records well, has some decent editing functions, modulations, compressions etc

Good unit but doesn't have any -5db or -10db pads for inputs, which is a problem because the input signal runs a little hot, even when I have the input volume all the way down it will still be easily peaking with certain mics and instruments

I'm recommending this unit to all of my friends that have an interest in home / portable studio projects

Once I got the hang of the three step process of initial recording, mix down recording and finally the master recorded, it was a very straight forward effort with features that can adjust and enhance the overall final product

So this has been a severe limitation for us in our use of this otherwise capable recording machine.

Then after the gig, I can mix each track separately via software to create a really nice live recording

Recording on the DP-24SD is much faster and easier than recording on a computer

But for the non-professional that is tired of using computers, this should address all of your needs at a very reasonable price point

The TASCAM DP-32SD 32-Track Digital Porta studio does a stellar job for the price

I think they do a good job with the manual, which was also the case with my old DP02

The sound quality on the tracks I did get, before the SD card malfunctioned, was great

It has many effects to enhance the quality of the sound

Other than that, it works pretty much the same and the quality of the sound is good.

Now for the facts, it is a great machine, sadly it is built to fail.

One tiny little bump and this marvelous machine is seriously wounded.

It's unfortunate few if any recorders with this many tracks offered currently offer footswitch punch in / out ability.

Amazing recorder in general but especially for the price.. the quick guide is great to get started and i imagine you could figure it all out on your own

I would highly recommend this recorder for anyone who likes to record music, sounds for movie tracks, sound effects for live plays or just plain fun.

But the odd thing is when you set a pan pot all the way left or right on say, track 1, then the sound seems to be at full volume

yeah, you can mix down on the thing, copy that track, and burn to disc, upload, whatever you want

Unlike my micro br boss recorder, this one doesn’t do sound effects, but you can adjust high, tenor, bass, reverb, etc so that’s pretty cool and it has a lot more available tracks for recording than the boss recorders

However, after I start recording, I really appreciate the extra tracks that I thought I would never need

If I decide to run my guitar direct, I had a hard time getting a good guitar sound, no preset choices only speaker cab simulations and nothing for bass guitar specific, Getting decent sounds requires a lot of tweaking

As usual Tascam delivered superior quality and sound with this product

The sound is not too bright, nor too dull, nor too harsh
