It seems like an eternity for a modern device and every time I do
The recording quality is good and the device is easy to setup and use.
If you have bad hearing and or have never heard or know what to listen for in studio quality recordings and think the high pitch hissing sound in quiet and low recordings is normal, then you'll love this device
I would highly recommend this device as an effective tool for recording band rehearsals or getting musical ideas down quickly when inspiration strikes.
Sonically, I didn't do any testing to see if there was a loss of sound quality from the older models compared to the DR-22WL, and as far as I could determine, the device supports all the same options for WAV, MP3 formats and sample rates as previous models.
As I have indicated, the device does a great job recording
But as of now, if you need a wireless connection to record audio the DR-22WL does a good job and allows control using either an Apple device or Android device as the controller from a distance.
Does a good job the sound is good the features are good, I think they need some improvement on the software, I like the fact you can you use the phone to stop and start the recorder and you can set input levels, the software on the unit is a bit cumbersome
The recorder does a great job at recording music concerts and sermons, and if you aren't sure which preset to use, you can set the wheel to "EZ" and the recorder will automatically adjust the mic gain on the fly during the recording to ensure that you get an adequate recording
Works perfectly with out Rode NTG-3 mic, and also with the lapel mic from our RodeLink Wireless kit
Popped it on a tabletop tripod, tucked it up over a bookshelf, and captured an evening with friends, playing and singing -- acoustic guitars, ukulele, piano, melodica, kazoo, shakers, tambourine, etc... -- and the recording sounds as good as any multi-mic home studio I've been in
Small and lightweight, perfect as a backup mic or for small jobs
Good drummer mic for recording your kit while playing it.

The plastic finish of the body made me feel it is a little fragil, but the commands are easy to use (I still didn't experience the wi-fi features), very easy to calibrate, and the sound (from a external lavalier mic) is pretty good, very impressive
The app and the presets are great features which Zoom doesn't give you.
The menu has a lot of nice features and customization, and it mounts nicely to my Sony a6300 with a SmallRig Hot Shoe Ball Mount and the Movo MV-RC300 Line to Mic Attenuator Cable (-25dB)
Very easy to use with great sound quality and good auto-features.
I am a professional recordist, and I bought this for the Wi-Fi connectability, only to return it when I realized that that feature was completely undependable
I am a long time Tascam user of several other Tascam products and know how great their products are.
That is my only qualm with this otherwise superior product.
Overall, it was a decent product - some of the WIFI integration to the app on your smartphone was glitchy, so I ended up just using the buttons on the recorder itself mostly since the wifi/app was NOT reliable.
If someone else knows a digital recorder that produces excellent piano recording audio quality, please let me know.
The recorder is capable of recording audio in a myriad of different formats and bit rates, the audio it captures is always crisp and clear and most often needs little to no editing
Awesome, sounds great, adds great quality audio to my videos
If you want better portable audio than a rode mic I would start here
That would be okay if it was a desktop device, but this is meant to be a portable audio recorder
Streaming is clunky, poor quality, unreliable and incredibly slow
A decent recorder for grab-and-go situations where you just need quick, simple, no fuss setup and generally good audio quality, like a band practice session or ad hoc interview
Recording quality sounds very good but self-noise is noticeable in quiet recordings
our first off camera sound recorder - simple to operate, reliable, great quality - Good value
Very easy to use with great sound quality and good auto-features.
The DR-22WL is slightly different from previous models in that it's buttons and assignments are different - but in general, nothing drastic - though you WILL have to read the user manual to acclimate yourself to it if you're already familiar with previous TASCAM portable devices that use a different layout.
The Tascam DR-22WL works fine for every aspect except for WiFi.
The Tascam doesn't have the most clear & easy to use interface.

Not only does the app allow recording to be started and stopped, it can also be used to check and adjust input levels from an iOS or Android device
Everything related to recording can be done by Wi-Fi
