The View TV that I received was DOA - dented on arrival and clearly someone else's return, so I sent it back.

I do not miss Direct Tv at all, in fact my TiVo is better than what I had with Direct Tv.

I got tired of the rudamentary software menus, limited channel guide and inconsistent recording

In doing so I lost the guide for a couple of other channels

There have been intermittent guide and recording problems all along the way

Love the guide and one pass recording of all my favorite shows

Can't delete unwanted guide channels, even ones with no signal.

I love my new Tivo Roamio OTA but coming from a Series 2 that I had stopped using, who wouldn't?

I am using the Roamio with some TiVo minis and they do not support viewing the multiple live buffers I can view on the main unit

Yes, the Tivo Roamio OTA 1 TB DVR is a bit pricier than others on the market, but it's worth it

Works well but has many convoluted entries o manipulate entries, e.g. one pass to set up a recording.

I do miss the old interface, but I do see some strong advantages to the new one.

The TiVo mini recommends a MoCA (coax-internet) connection to this box, but the Roamio does not include this capability.

I do get dropouts occasionally, where the Tivo will lose connection to the home base Tivo unit, via the MOCA network you setup over the cable lines.

Does what it should but seems to lose connection to the main box frequently.

However it does require you to have a INTERNET connection as well as a connection to the other TIVO box.

Both deficiencies mean that much more room will be taken up on the hard disk.

I have seen a LOT of negative reviews in late 2016 and early 2017 where people were having serious trouble registering their new Tivo and unable to complete the online setup

All customer service now overseas, original Tivo award winning customer service was based here in the US (all the old good reviews) - not only is the overseas service people just 'scripters', ie they have zero product knowledge and just read from a script, very challenging to work with.

The tiny little fan in the obviously too-tight Bolt box does make an audible noise, although it didn't bother us much.

It's clearly the most prominent noise in the room, above the refrigerator, the Roku, the laptop and the desktop PC which has three 4 inch box fans

In-house streaming works to my Android devices and desktop (using TiVo online), but doesn't work outside the local LAN - mysterious error message no one can explain

Until you activate it, (and wait up to a day for TiVo to process the activation), you will just get unhelpful error messages

I spent countless hours online trying to find a solution, I tried static IP addressing, MOCA, and setting up unique subnets on my network

Despite the insistence of many 1-star reviews that the Mini needs a static IP address or that it cannot be connected to a switch or that a bridge is required to get everything to work, I found none of this to be the case

I logged into my router to start troubleshooting by giving the Mini a static IP address but before I made any changes I realized that my TiVo Bolt+ hadn't updated

We assigned a static IP address and everything else within our network to help prevent any changes which might set off the Mini and still the problem persisted

I had never had that problem before with any hardware, but a pretty simple fix of assigning a static IP got me up and running.
