The top bracket is about 6/8 inches wide, and has a small oval openings that parsley blocked the input cables, so we had to cut a bigger hole in the bracket.
I also had to fashion a tie to secure the monitor lower brackets to the poles for fear some one might tip the monitor off the stand.
The supports for the 32 inch monitor that come with the stand, hook over the top bracket of the stand, after they are screwed to the back of the monitor.

I thought I might be using the small camera(top) shelf for Samsung's One Connect box
We use the top shelf for the center surround speaker, the shelf under the TV for the DVD/surround sound unit, and the lowest shelf for the subwoofer (it has to be sideways but doesn't seem to affect sound quality).
