This basically tells me is that Canon rushed this camera to the market without proper quality controls, perhaps pressured by new releases in the pipeline by Sony and Nikon
It handles well, has great image quality, does everything that I need it to do, and has some great bells and whistles
12800 was something I wouldn’t even consider going near with the Mark II but now the quality of this has really blown me away
The 5D IV seems to be hidden in the shadows of the D850 and Sony's a7rIII but is still a good camera with a good form factor, excellent image quality, and a GREAT lens selection -especially from the likes of Tamron and Sigma.
With the temp of technology I would say, this camera is lost itself value in 2018.Canon needs to find a way to support their existing cameras improving quality through software updates fixing what has been released.
On the stills side, the camera performs great, the sensor provides sharp images with very nice details, even though there is a low pass AA filter - good glass helps; like the 85mm f1.8 from Tamron :)
I initially disappointed with the sharpness of the images but realized that image stabilization, while amazingly helpful, is no substitute for a good tripod at slower speeds or a high shutter speed to ensure truly sharp images at high magnification
The 5D Mark III's improvements over its predecessor in the form of autofocus were almost immediately evident upon use; the 5D IV's improvements in the form of tracking, high ISO capability, dynamic range, and video features take time with the camera to manifest themselves, but are no less real and no less meaningful; they make it easier to get better images in tougher conditions than is possible with the 5D Mark III

If your lens can only resolve at 12MP you're not getting sharp images when you blow up your 30MP images
Seems to me that Canon wanted to protect the 5DS/R from being cannibalized from a too potent 5DIV
They have made nice refinements, love the touch screen, love the multiple user menu windows, love that the chip is much better than previous versions and these cameras are pretty bomb proof
The 5D IV does have a pretty cool new screen that only shows what you really need when you are shooting which is Shutter Speed, ISO, Aperture and focus point
Fixed Screen - Many are screaming for the great new touch display to be articulated, but I'll take having the camera built like a tank over that feature any day
Touch screen very helpful, especially touch to focus for video.
An worthy upgrade from the Canon 5D Mark III, in terms of much faster focus speed, improved dynamic range and better low light sensitivity
and I have never encountered focusing issues like this.
The focusing is much improved over the MK III which was my main motivation for getting this
However there will still be things like spot AF missing, because only Canon has that (reduced focus point size for pinpointing critical focus, which is very helpful in certain situations).-I'm not going to talk about video because I did not buy this camera for video
very fast and accurate focusing system not to mention the sharp images
50 megapixels would have limited the Mark IV in many ways (high ISO performance and FPS for example) and would be overkill for 90% of the work for which most people use the camera
First off, coming from the Mark III, the IV on the outside is very much similar, and you could mistake them at a glance.
At the end of the day, this is the whole point of upgrading so no complaints here! :)I highly recommend Canon 5D Mark IV!
I was generally pleased with the image quality of the MKII and initially wasn’t “wowed” by the Mark IV in this regard
I have watched every Mark IV Youtube videos available before its release so that I would know exactly what to look for upon receiving the camera
Sensor cleaning is a huge hassle (almost impossible without leaving some smear even after trying out multiple sensor cleaners) and I hesitated swapping lens on many occasions on all my mirrorlesses
The sensor is not as good as the top of the line Sony sensors but you give up Canon's extensive lenses, better ergonomics, CPS.
Overall the 5DIV is a reliable, well-balanced stills camera with an impressive sensor
Canon could have done more on the “gadget” side of things and added a few more MPIX to an otherwise excellent sensor
The 5DIV sensor is excellent and another step up from the 5DS/R. Canon has consistently been improving its sensors from the 5DIII
My old 550D would overheat when shooting 1080p, and the Sony cameras also overheat on 4K, so far the 5D Mark IV has been working reliably
, it can't be overstated how good the Mark IV feel in the hand

Lightroom now supports the 5D Mark IV and the photos attached are just using the default settings in Lightroom (no extra sharpening etc)
The Mark IV algorism is superior to just face detection
