It is of a decent size for an office as well as your one house shredder

Shred size and speed are adequate.

I highly recommend this one if you need a good size shredder in the house.

Bummer because the unit is solid and appears to be very well made.

Neither unit overheated with fairly continuous shredding of stacks of paper packets where I stopped to scan through contents of each packet before shredding

The shredding mechanism and motor unit up top felt sturdy as a rock and well built, but the rest of the shredder is flimsy poorly designed.

The Fellowes unit was slightly quieter than the Royal though noise levels were just fine for both

It does have the ability to “force” a shred (to a degree) and to reverse to clear a jam (again, to a point)

It does appear to be jam proof because each time it detects an issue, it stops and reverses, then goes forward processing the paper again until the jam is cleared

(But so far so good)I have a six-year-old Fellowes SB89Ci which was working perfectly in my very busy home office UNTIL somebody (family) put an envelope through it containing coins, and then used the forward/back buttons to 'clear the jam', ultimately breaking several of the plastic "sweepers" (those white plastic things which among other things separate the blades in the cutter head and also clear paper shards as they try to wrap themselves around the cutter head).

The drawstring feature is nice and they are a lot cheaper than the Fellowes bags

This shredder does a great job and doesn't make a lot of noise

The plastic tabs that are suppose to hold the bag in place but don’t do the best job

It does a poor job of cross-cutting, especially on 12-15 page documents.

I'm actually enjoying cleaning out old paperwork--a job I normally would avoid like the plague

Loved the product, if I ever had to I would buy another no questions asked.

Poor product because of switch failure which evidently is a characteristic of this shredder

It is certainly worth spending a but more on a solid product like this

Did I receive a defective machine and it just took time to prematurely break down

This machine is definitely a lot faster and lot quieter than my previous shredder

i was surprised at the number of sheets it could shred at one time but really didnt feel the need to push that limit as the speed was fast enough to do smaller amounts .. the machine is sturdy and should last a long time

The machine is very powerful and quiet as I feed it with stacks of papers, from two to eight sheets at a time

Machine easy to set up including putting the wheel casters that came with the shredder

Some times if a paper is too thin, it is hard to trigger the machine to turn on.

You will spend more time cleaning up the mess and pushing down the shredded paper then you ever will actually shredding.

My only minor complaint is that the paper is just a littler harder to get into the slot than it was on my old 89Ci as this one is "thinner" (same width though).

So why should I be responsible for any costs?In stark contrast to the ultra poor performance of the Powershred 99Ci, I bought a smaller, less expensive Fellowes paper shredder about 10-12 years ago and used it in much the same way

Now, keep in mind that this expensive paper shredder has a built-in digital meter that displays the load on the cutter head and is advertised as 100% jam proof

It's still going strong and shreds paper like there's no tomorrow

My daughter has the Amazon Basics shredder that is similar and quite honestly it is faster and has a molded paper bucket rather than the flimsy plastic riveted bucket in this unit

It is held together with plastic snaps that fall off when the bin is inserted which in turn lets the bin walls flop around

Amazon has several similar to them - search for "clear drawstring 13-gallon trash bags.")I will be going over it VERY carefully in the next day or so just to make sure that there was no other problem from its being jarred in shipping (and if there is any, I will be doing an exchange to get another).

Moreover, the dimensions of the basket make it easy to empty into a 30 gallon garbage bag without spilling a lot of paper on the floor.

For replacement bags, I just went to the 99 cent store and bought a cheap roll of 10 gallon trash bags.

I also found out that using 13 gallon trash bags work very well in this machine
