Amazing shots, sharp images, beautiful bokeh, all at a good price and a great size to pair with you camera body
Razor sharp even wide open, great image quality, beautiful bokeh.
For manual focusing, this lens is a nightmare to use but it produces good images when you are able to get the subject sharply in focus
The F1.4 produces a beautiful bokeh and even wide open it produces extremely sharp images
But this is a lens that you might just want to beyond portraits: use it outdoors, on the street, really anywhere, because the images are just simply that good
It fast, sharp, lightweight, well built and fun to use.
The lens is very well built with knurled metal focus ring and excellent overall feel.

I love this lens (35mm 1.4), well built, the quality of the glass and images it produces is amazing!Great for low light and street photography. if you plan to get only one lens for this camera, this is the one!
Its small, well built and it has a strange looking metal hood
A UV filter isn't necessary, but I think a ND filter is very useful). All in all, if you looking for a versatile prime--don't have a style of shooting that relies on wide angle or telephoto, like the beautiful bokeh, and need good low-light performance, I think this really does make an excellent multi-purpose lens.
Overall, it is a nice small lens with very good performance, and it is so much fun to shoot with.
I recommend this lens for available light shooting, or excellent performance stopped down.
Third, and most important to me, this is a "fast" lens, f1.4 with excellent low light performance, and beautiful bokeh for portraits
The only downers are the sluggish AF performance and the loudish AF motor
the lense does take great photos but all of the other negative reviews are correct, it does take forever to focus and i believe mine was defective but the motor is very loud inside of the lens, get an f2r lens way better focus an amazing pics as well ipicked up the xf50 f2
Unusable night photos is a thing of the past
I have it attached to, together they make beautiful photos
All metal built from what I can see, beautiful sharp photos and awesome performance in
This lens produces beautiful photos and I love that it opens to f1.4
One of the sharpest fastest lenses Fuji makes... image quality ins magical
Most fast lenses suffer from purple/green fringing on objects that are just in front of and behind the focus plane when the lens is used wide open, but the Sony is VERY noticeable, even up to f/2.8
If you have been reading the reviews, you have probably read that the lens is crazy sharp at all apertures (it is), and that it doesn't focus as fast as the newer lenses (it doesn't)
Compared to say Canon's 50mm f1.2 or 85 mm f1.2 which are two of the slowest lenses I have ever used, this lens is definitely a step up in auto focus performance.

On 14 June I placed the order for this lens, as well as for the camera body "used-like new" from Amazon Warehouse for $1274(!!) and the 18mm lens "used-like new" for $521 (also from Amazon Warehouse), and I selected super saver free shipping.
I hesitated on this purchase because I read so many reviews of people complaining about the noise and the terrible hood/cap
Oh the hood doesn't snap into place as well as it should and has a weird cap.
Oh the hood doesn't snap into place as well as it should and has a weird cap.
I personally think the hood on this lens is great, but the cap is problematic
This lens is effectively useless when taking pictures of moving subjects at large apertures due to the lag when adjusting focus and the slow focusing motor.
So it lost a star due to the hood cap and the loud motor, but gained it back by just being a dang nice lens to use

Just imagine a very loud focus motor, but on constantly
A few downsides:-Noisy focus motor (not any louder than the shutter tho, but louder than 18-55mm)-Lens goes in and out about 1/4" or so, but it doesn't rotate.-Focus hunts a bit in low light (paired with my xe1
