And be care don't move it so much in order to enjoy average sound, without noises.
SO on top of getting static on all stations there is no way to boost the sound or level to try and "drown out" the static
However, if your current vehicle doesn't provide that option, you don't want a bunch of wires in your way, or you find yourself switching vehicles quite a bit, this is the perfect solution for you!The iTrip is tiny, doesn't need wires (but they are included just in case you want to simultaneously charge your iPod while you're using it), and provides almost perfect sound

It also helps I was told the secret FM transmitter trick that makes practically any of them better than the clearest radio station
I recommend, that if you want the best audio, is to have a car radio that accepts 3.5 mm head phone jacks and get a mini-jack to mini-jack or just a plain old iPod compatible radio; that is for the absolute best quality to get the audio from your iPod to your car,

It is thinner than the previous version and, combined with the spacer to allow for cases (which wasn't necessary using my Griffin case, old iTrip fit just fine even with case), it seems wiggly and as though a sharp bang or drop from the wrong angle would snap the iTrip in half, leaving half inside the iPod and half elsewhere

You can find a good unused frequency by finding the frequency with the most white noise, but if you don't want to do that Griffin has created a website to help people find an unused station here
I recommend using the channels that have the most frequency (fuzzy noises), usually below the 100 channels
I bought this item early in August, and although I was slightly bummed that it does not sound as "crystal clear" in the car as I had hoped, it did have some decent frequency in certain areas (if you're in the L.A. area, you'll likely be bouncing between 90.1 FM and 90.5 FM, and maybe even 90.9 FM too)
Overall, however, this product was good to me (and who knows, maybe I was just lucky I was able to find a good frequency... especially by placing my iPod upside-down in my lap seatbelt as I drove), but just so you know:1

The new itrip looks nicer than the previous 2006 version and is less bulky.2
I loved the original iTrip from Griffin, and thought I would love this one as well.
Of course if you want to listen to the radio again you'll have to reinstall the antenna, but then why would you need an iTrip if you liked what was playing on radio stations???
I've ordered another iTrip Auto (my last one was broken by an iPod thief) because I just can't listen to any more static, intermittent dj banter and other interference.
The only negative issue for me, so far, is that this iTrip must be with in 12 inches of the radio antenna for it to work
Overall, however, this product was good to me (and who knows, maybe I was just lucky I was able to find a good frequency... especially by placing my iPod upside-down in my lap seatbelt as I drove), but just so you know:1
Good product, sometimes it receives some noise on the transmission but works fine
This product was a major downgrade from the earlier version because the frequency range for the newer one bottomed out at 88.1
Good product, sometimes it receives some noise on the transmission but works fine
that's the second one i got it and this stuff just works a one foot from the device.......means very bad product!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I understand that my having used it so much must have torn it apart, but it had only been six months since I bought it... so that tips me off as to how cheap the casing might be
I only bought this one because I finally cracked the case of the old device and it falls off, (doesn't stop playing though), hence the purchase of number two
However, because I used it so frequently since I have no other means of listening to my iPod in the car (I don't have a tape deck), the casing began falling apart and I often had to wrap tape around the sides to keep the plug from coming off
