If you want to learn harmonica and enjoy it, then I can recommend this product
Great product with terrific quality and sound with less effort that a cheaper made item
I slightly prefer the sound and playability of the Special 20 and would therefore recommend the Special 20 (C), though I would recommend the Marine Band (A) as a second harmonica
The #2 (E) doesn't work, and the #1 (C) and #3 (G) are spotty, so no first C chord.
what more can you ask for in a great product for a hobby
My favorite thing about this harmonica is the classic wooden comb, giving it a much more rich, folky, Bob Dylan-esque tone (which is what I was going for)
My favorite Plastic Comb Harmonica, and outstanding in terms of comfort and ease of play

This is a good harmonica expecialy if you like a wood comb
If you are a beginner I strongly recommend the Hohner Special 20 (plastic comb) for its ease of play
This thing is so sharp, I am afraid to take it out of the case sometimes

I would not get another Marine Band harp until Hohner smooths things out.
I then ordered a Blues Harp Minor G for $15.98, it's a great harmonica but also was sent the wrong key (Major G)
The 2 brass plates that are sandwiched between the chrome outer plates both had a very pronounced sharp edge that I had to file down to keep from cutting my lips.
I then ordered a Blues Harp Minor G for $15.98, it's a great harmonica but also was sent the wrong key (Major G)
The sound of the Marine Band is good but the brass reed plates are exposed on the front of the instrument and have a sharp enough edge to cut you if you are not careful.
Had to burnish the sharp edges, which was not easy, since this model is held together with nails instead of screws, and is almost impossible for a lay-person to disassemble easily
Once I relieved all of the (MANY) sharp edges and corners, it played very well, and sounds great

A historic harmonica in natural minor tuning that's ideal for playing in minor keys and genres like minor blues, rock, country, reggae, pop, and jazz
As expert harp player Steve Baker describes in his book, The Harp Handbook, the Marine Band harmonica in Natural Minor tuning means that "all the 3rds in the blow and draw chords...are tuned a semitone lower than the Richter system, so that both blow and draw chords are minor...." This "tuning is great for blues and rock numbers in minor keys..." and is "also very good for minor key reggae numbers, or similar spacey groove music...." In general, natural minor harps have a very bluesy, soulful sound that's perfect for playing minor blues, rock, country, reggae, pop, and jazz
This fabulous tuning is set up to play minor music easily without straining the lips, the lungs, or the mind! All of the notes and chords that were missing on the major diatonic harps for playing minor blues are right there on the natural minor
Natural minors are designed to be played in cross harp (draw), not straight harp (blow) style
In cross harp, many of the draw notes can be bent, allowing for a much more expressive, fluid style of playing
In addition, cross harp is a very popular style used by most players for today's music
The natural minor-tuned Hohner 1896 Marine Band Harmonica follows in the footsteps of harps played by world-famous musicians like John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen, Little Walter, and Paul Butterfield
The Hohner Marine Band is a number-one choice among top professionals and one of the most recognizable harmonicas all over the world
Known for its full tone, wood comb, and its patented cover plates, the Marine Band harmonica was there when harmonica blues was born
The Marine Band harp is a results of over 100 years of Hohner tradition and German craftsmanship
