Everything works but speaker is a bit low and creates lots of static even with strong signals (Compared to my Motorola MT350R is much better with audio and overall reception) other than that the radio is well built and very stylish.
The sound was crystal like the building was made of wood so it proves the transmitter is high quality
Motorolla known for their quality but these are not well built.
First, these are well built, feel great and sturdy in your hand.
It's apparent that these are well built units unlike cheaper radios which look like toys
I also like the new button layout having PTT flashlight and emergency button all on one side, and the rubberized tops and bottoms is nice too
Very handy wit the little LED flashlight - bright enough for nighttime walking
What I like:-Rugged construction can take a good beating-weather-proof design; IP-54 rating-uses rechargeable batteries; can also use 3x AA batteries-Push-to-Talk Power Boost can increase transmission power, and goes back to low transmission (to conserve battery power) when not needed-built-in LED flashlight turns on when power goes out (but also turns on when unplugged)-micro-USB charging port for rechargeable battery
I know companies like to have custom interfaces to sell more stuff, but I think it is a good feature to have standard interfaces (typical headphone jack).
The vibrate feature is also really cool when it is loud and you might not hear an all call.
The radio is weather and water proof and that is a good feature
Haven't really used them much yet, but these seem to have nice features.
I have to admit that the charging is actually the top feature that attracted me to this - on a weeklong ski trip you can bet you're going to need batteries at some point.
When you tell the other person to speak louder, the sound gets really distorted
The sound is good and you can control he volume with the off-on switch
I bough these radios after being disappointed by Midland's design decisions WRT battery life management - but those at least worked properly - loud and clear sound, adequate power, no issues with receiver overload (even being were 5W units), etc.
They have a good sound, and they were able to hear each other, though it was getting a bit fuzzy, at a mile away.
but it is tinny, weak and too quiet yet much louder on weather reception or open squelch but still tinny and less robust sounding in comparison to the Midland GXT 1000
Motorola has historically had a good product reputation.
As newbies to two-way radios, our family has enjoyed this Motorola T480 radio
Get your crap together Motorola and Amazon!
I would definitely recommend these Motorola T400 two way radios to anyone searching for such a product!
Anyways side by side range test the Motorola was clear until you hit its max range, at that point it makes unbelievable loud static and absolutely ZERO transmission was heard
This little comms tool is a powerful product , with great range and quality send signal
These T460 radios have a professional feel to them like the build quality and construction of radio feels heavyduty or commercial like
The quality of the radios are great like always with Motorola
Not very good distance hardly a mile or so , and very fuzzy quality , the actual walkie is nice it has a flash light and seems to be pretty rouged and water resistant
For such a great quality product, Motorola should have designed and supplied a good easy to read manual booklet instead of the instruction sheet they included
We get a pretty good distance on these if we are not in a built up area with buildings in the way.
The farthest distance I got away from home with the radios, still hearing each other, but the sound breaking-up bad, was 1/2 mile
Not very good distance hardly a mile or so , and very fuzzy quality , the actual walkie is nice it has a flash light and seems to be pretty rouged and water resistant
Usable distance in town or out in the timber is wonderful, you just have to ensure you are on the high power capable channels if you go to far.
but i suppose other than that they did what they claimed.except for the insane distance
Motorola will send a brand new replacement for both units and the charger within 10 days of returning the defective units and the charger.
When we press the Mode, Menu, "+", "-", and Mon buttons the unit does a low pitch beep and the function does not work.
It's apparent that these are well built units unlike cheaper radios which look like toys
One unit arrived inoperable so I had to return it for credit...which I did get
This unit has its own power boost, and seems to work well in the low end of the transmission range, but unless you take it out in the mountains you will not how far it really goes
To change channels (radio channels and weather channels), it tells you "With the radio on, press (Menu Lock) until the channel number starts to flash."
What they should have written is "press and release (Menu Lock) and the channel number will start to flash."
Also the Midland menu is nowhere near as good as
Press and release the (Menu Lock) and the channel number will begin to flash, and press "+" or "-" until you pick-up your strongest weather channel signal
Both radios need to be set at the same channel number and same interference code.
