Update - Upon leaving this review, the seller sent a new 'Dual Locking System Car Mount' that is a huge improvement and works very well in the vehicle that previous model did not work in
The holder is working well in my car and holds my phone securely
I was sent a replacement to try free of charge and this one works great
It lasted for a week and after that the sticky grip no longer works and this device is now useless
The company replaced it at no cost to me and the second one works great on the dash of my Ford Escape

The design of the holder is great, but something needs to be done about the sticky gel pad which did not stick for longer than 5 minutes upon first and subsequent tries.

I would really love this cell phone mount , for the price
For the first few months the mount was perfect, but after 6 months it broke on its own while driving without a phone even being mounted
Using the sticky mount, this fell off our textured dashboard after a couple of days in cool weather
The sticky gel/vacuum pad, which holds the mount to the base was also an improvement, but still not perfect because I had to use some third party product to help reinforce it.
Really like the mount it makes ubering much easier on me!

Still don’t like plastic but it seems to be working fine.
I had it on a smooth plastic surface for a month or so but it kept unsticking and falling off because the surface was slightly curved and didn't provide an ideal suction when engaging it
