Honestly the app is a complete afterthought and nothing ever really works as you intended

As far as the HEOS1, well it sounds very tinny with pretty good bass

Software app is absolutely terrible and extremely restrictive, no Apple Music support as of Nov 2016

However, I've been using Bluetooth, which I really enjoy because I can play EVERYTHING on my phone through it versus what the app will allow me to play (i.e. Sonos)

The HEOS speakers sound excellent when used on a wifi network and the audible difference with this new feature is so minimal it’s not worth talking about, especially on the smaller speakers like the HEOS 1.

I would not purchase another Denon speaker nor can I recommend the product to a prospective buyer.

Add these to your home WiFi network and you have a smart sound system in every room

All of this said, when the system is working well (as in my father's experience), the speaker has good sound for its size and price point.

But this speaker is part of some incredibly complex nightmare system that requires serious IT skills

To find one that is part of a highly capable wireless whole-house system makes it especially attractive

Purchased HEOS first version two years ago and had problems with consistent connectivity throughout my 3800, four story townhouse; very frustrating and embarrassing

Tried at least five different, highly recommended routers to no avail and concluded that HEOS must be the problem, but recently dumped the standard router for a high density web mesh system and the connectivity is now flawless

Although I read that the Sonos bass range is better, the Heos mid and high are very crisp and the bass is not forced.

I had no trouble installing the app on my iPhone and getting the Heos 1 working
