Don't let anyone tell you that the Peavey solid state amps sound better
If you must buy a solid state combo amp FOR PRACTICE, then this new Fender combo amp will do the job better than almost any alternatives and probably better than all in this price range
Speaking as someone who would PREFER to have the overdriven 5150 tube sound for extreme metal, this is the best solid state compromise I can find
Go with the Fender if you must buy a solid state amp for practicing guitar (alone)

For home use you probably want the Master volume around "2"5- Doesn't include recording software like THRPros: now the good stuff1- FX loop (GT100 and GT200
There had to be flexibility for headphones and recording to a DAW, and an aux input for jamtracks

I purchased the Fender Mustang GT40 to replace my bedroom practice amp that died (Mustang I v.2)
For the price i think its great and the fact that you get stereo sound via the two speakers which for the size sound great overall especially the clean tone varieties.

After using the Mustang almost every day for about 5 months now I still feel I made the right choice, and I can confirm that the Mustang has not disappointed me.

For stage use you will want to spend the extra $100-200 on a Mustang GT 100 or 200.The 2.0 update has taken a modeling amp that was already a solid choice and pushed it to a position where it solidly aspires to greatness

The GT is a good amp, and I think the best 1 liner to describe it would be "does many things good to very-good, but nothing great".Here is a brief list of things I noticed:Pros for Mustang GT: super lightweight, easy to carry with 1 hand

So again I remain super impressed with the flexibility I wrote about above though the sound delivery through those odd small "stereo speakers" is still very disappointing.
This amp isn't too large, not too heavy...but the stereo speakers put out plenty of sound for your man cave.
I noticed the headphones work well, and you sound out to them matches the open speaker sound almost dead on, but with the phones, you can hear the stereo's patches/effects better (like the stereo delay bounces from side to side).I did not want to drop $89 on a 4 button footswitch
Obviously you might want to go a size up for more Fender sound, but this thing is great and the speaker wears in nicely after a few hours to warm up
Everyone complaining about the tone should unhook the speaker and use the xlr outs straight to a board, or use it with the computer with the USB.All this being said, I don't think I would have ever bought this, but I think it's a pretty good amp sim, but only for recording demos
