Combined with the Touch controllers, this is one of my best purchases ever
A bad purchase.
The *only* cons I can think of:Wired connection to the PC is prone to tangle around you as you play, but if you have someone nearby to help untangle is not a big deal
This has been one of the best purchases I have ever made
And, as much as I love it, it stopped working as of 5/25/17
you got the touch kit) and figuring out the ideal mounting system for your space
every message (George, Alma, Joana, Alice, Norma etc all in 1 ticket!!!) and 3) ditch the customer claiming his system is unsupported, even if the problem is physical and in the Oculus only (e.g.: defective Oculus cable)
n’t want to scratch the lenses.
The system itself is extremely fun and immersive but the only down side is there are not very many games out right now that last long at all, many games are level based which is fun because they do have a good amount of
It's insanely immersive and my favorite video game system so far.
Haven't been able to compare with a Vive or anything, but the games are great, the portability is good, and the build quality is solid
Also, when I tried using theater mode to watch movies the movies weren't half bad quality however the virtual seats in front of me were in the way which was phenomenally annoying and making movie watching useless.
I think it's the poor texture quality that doesn't seem to trick my mind into thinking it's real
Bad quality control, got slight red tint, color banding
Quality build, comfortable, the earphones are not in the way and offer good enough sound quality
Truly speaking I love Oculus Rift with touch controllers
Oculus rift I have received is defective, with blank right screen, and I figured out, there are lots of cases like mine
I really like the Oculus Rift, it isn't a bad VR headset by any measure
I love the Oculus Rift and the Touch Controllers are amazing!
The big difference was the Vive was simply more FUN with the Vive Wands; the Rift honestly lost it's 'fun' pretty quickly, especially if you're accustomed to playing on a 1440p screen
How cool this thing is isn't really something you can explain to someone
The only cool thing about this headset is using something that's starting up
Motion sickness is a real thing, and as a kid I used to get motion sickness in cars, but no longer, however this headset has made me motion sick a couple of times, mostly from games that move far too fast for me at the moment, Warthunder was the biggest issue, but i've seen it with Dreadhalls and Eve Valkyrie
Before getting the Rift, the next best thing I had tried was the Gear VR.Although that is amazing
It was the most backwards ridiculous thing I've ever installed on my PC.After all that though it works fine
the sensor will not work and the Oculus app won't let you launch any games making the headset useless and this product is the only one recommended by Oculus.
"Polished and carefully considered, the complete three-sensor Oculus Rift bests the competition in almost EVERY
It also has a tendency to loose the tracking sensor every 20ish seconds which means the image glitches
"Polished and carefully considered, the complete three-sensor Oculus Rift bests the competition in almost EVERY
I hooked my replacement up and found out that, unfortunately, my Rift still could not detect my Sensor, I contacted customer service - no response for weeks, not a surprise at this point.
If your eyes deviate from this small area even by a small amount, the image becomes blurry
The device is light, fairly comfortable, and has a clear image.
It also lacks the ability to change the distance of the lenses from your eyes, I ended up having to wear the headset very loose to make the lenses sit at a comfortable distance so the image was sharp; I have 20/20 vision for those of you who are curious
Here is why: The way that V.R. Lenses are built they have an optimal focal point or area that your eye needs to be inside in order for the image to not become blurry
The real disappointment was the image quality - its simply not good enough and for me completely breaks any sense immersion.
Oculus support was not helpful and it took me two days must to get the headset to work.
I've also plenty of reports that Oculus has horrible customer support, but I hope it isn't true
Update 3/19/17 -- a lot of reviewers are bitchin' about their systems crashing & crappy support from Oculus...blah, blah, blah...you need to have a robust system built for this thing -- no off-the-shelf WallyMart or BestBug budget computer.
The game has to have native support in order for You to fully enjoy it, so don't hurt Yourself by caring for anything less
Applications bought and played within the Oculus store are relatively easily to launch and play; others, launched from within Steam, while the RIFT is supported, many titles will force you to switch between keyboard, controller, headset on, headset off, over and over
Here's my verdict:Pros:-comfortable-very natural-good headphones-good cable length that doesn't tangle-software from Oculus-experiences and games are awesomeCons:-screen is not as sharp-blurry areas, pixels show-can only take an hour or so
And, as much as I love it, it stopped working as of 5/25/17
Finding a good USB C to HDMI adapter has been a hassle the best one so far has been the Bestbuy house brand out of 4 I have tried
The first one I purchased had a bad hdmi cable the screen would flash in and out
So Install Windows 10 on bootcamp and get a good USB C to hdmi and your good to go
After all the constant communication with Oculus to try to rectify the issues, we now found that we ran out of time to return or exchange it from Amazon.
Some gauges in DCS and Project Cars are difficult to read, this being the main area to improve in VR at this time (same issue with Vive).
My ONLY real negative issue with the Rift is that it does not really allow for full 360-degree gaming
Oculus like a 15 dollar Google Cardboard due to its limited functionalities to at least watch "VR" movies or landscapes; the Oculus software has a habit of downloading updates in the background, taking up tremendous bandwidth when it wants to, where it wants to, with no option for you to schedule said unknown patch contents; it was one of these updates that "broke" my software, where the software suddenly came up with a warning "You cannot enter VR due to an unresolved hardware issue", only I went into settings, and all hardware indicators are green, and even my Nvidia drivers were up to date and functional
The Rift posed another issue for spectacle wearers like me.
Its a blast to play but the developers did not do enough r&d to make sure you have a flawless install
The first time I did the Minecraft VR, placed a block and was able to look AROUND and BEHIND the block while still standing in front of it blew my mind.. and that's just a very basic example
It has consistently blown my MIND every time I try something new with it
Overall, the oculus is a great brand new piece of technology that is sure to blow you and your friends' minds with how awesome it can be
The games are still being developed, developers are still figuring out what works poorly, what works well, and what will blow your mind
Had a little bit of motion sickness at first, but it's bearable
You will then need to purchase a Displayport to HDMI adapter but many of them do not work well and are not compatible with either the Rift or with many modern 4K TVs and while they say they can support 4K resolutions at 60 Hz, many cannot
Also, it may not be for you, period, due to motion sickness
Finding a good USB C to HDMI adapter has been a hassle the best one so far has been the Bestbuy house brand out of 4 I have tried
I have not experienced any motion sickness with the supported games for the oculus
Various awesome games are available -- i've spent most of my time in Elite Dangerous and Obduction.
I have played over a thousand hours of Elite Dangerous in the the CV1 and the DK2, and it's easily my favorite go-to VR game
I just about fell out of my chair the first time I tried turning in Elite Dangerous
My favorite game is the space simulator Elite Dangerous - but you will need a HOTAS for that game to fully enjoy it (I recommend the ThrustMaster T16000).
Elite Dangerous is a different game with this piece of kit.
