I will start by saying that this product worked fairly well while it did work - the app is a bit glitchy and can be difficult to connect to, but I was happy with the quality of the images
However, I used this product only a handful of times before it no longer worked at all
Great product, the stitching looks very good and the image quality is high
Ricoh wisely kept the same form factor, software and controls - all of which worked well
Its form like the Theta S is perfect, easy to carry in a pocket, which means you'll always have the camera with you to capture the perfect 360 video or image when you see it
Ricoh Theta V* Superior form factor, probably best of all 360 cameras - Easy to hold and point with or without a selfie stick.

I bought the V based on the promises of better image quality and faster speed
Overall it's fun to play with but you'd still have better quality photos by using several standard photos and stitching them together.
Confusing as to why this is in the day of SD cards, etc
■RICOH THETA V・The precision of video slant top/bottom correction has been improved.・Still image joining accuracy has been improved.・Corrected bugs and improved performance.・The quality of the still image is improved by modifying the compression ratio.
You can't control the camera, nor can you process the results, though I was able to assemble a poor-quality video with other tools
Confusing as to why this is in the day of SD cards, etc
There is also an exposure compensation setting, and the ability to apply noise reduction to your images (resulting in a cleaner but slightly softer image). The ability to directly put 360-degree photos on Facebook is perhaps my favorite feature.
Probably the coolest feature is the ability so show and control your images on the TV.
All the features I like from the S plus improved video (4K) and audio
It is a clever idea and if you’re big on 360 degree photography, you’ll like its features and what it does; anyone else might easily lose interest
The images look very sharp on a phone screen but when viewed in a VR viewer they seem very, very grainy.
Ricoh still leads the rest in its stitching as the overall spherical images look very good.
This translates into 4k video recording and sharper images

Also, the Theta V misaligned several images with blurred seams.
360 video was great when viewing on PC.Android Theta S software crashed 90% of the time it was run, and would not transfer videos
The same problem existed in the Theta S.Software works well but the video doesn't playback well on some PC's.
You cannot just drag video files via a wired connection to your computer unless you want a weird video that' s useless, you need to either send it via "camera wifi" to your phone for it to convert to a videosphere, or download the Ricoh software to your computer and convert it through there
I have had no response and still have endless problems with my Ricoh V purchased via Amazon
Confusing as to why this is in the day of SD cards, etc
another card.*Live Streaming - Theta V claims it supports live streaming, but you have to connect the unit to a computer via USB cable or some nonsense.
Wi-Fi works as
One live streaming works pretty good.

But it is good enough to keep the one I have in addition to the Theta V, as it does some things the Theta V is bad at, or doesn't feature at all such as live streaming and "Bullet Time", and pivotal editing in software.
But Ricoh Theta V was a disappointment; The only truly useful enhancement was the quality of the video.
In low light, both suck, but maybe the Theta V is better
Theta V has the same number of pixels, same JPEG encoding schema, but allocates only about 31% of the file size to the same image content

The Theta V is lightweight 360 Degree spherical camera, it’s easy to use and compact enough to carry everywhere
Enhancements including a new image sensor and processor for improved image quality allow the camera to produce more realistic “as-if-you-were-there” 360-degree content
The camera’s new high-speed data transfer is 2.5 times faster than previous Theta models, allowing users to quickly and wirelessly upload 14 megapixel stills and high-resolution 4K videos for immediate showing and sharing
Omni-directional audio recording functionality enables 360-degree audio that is a strong complement to the high resolution video, dramatically enhancing the realism of a scene
The Theta V can connect to and be controlled by any Android or iOS-based smartphone or tablet using the Theta S app
Connection is either via Bluetooth low energy (BLE)-which enables an “always-on” connection between a camera and phone-or Wi-Fi, providing users with greater flexibility in how they wirelessly control the camera
A new and unique feature of the Theta V is that Ricoh will be able to create new functions for the camera via software plug-ins
The first of these plug-ins was developed by Ricoh and is already integrated into the phone
It enables the Theta V to deliver the world’s first remote playback capability in a commercially-marketed, fully spherical camera
The camera has a 4-channel microphone that supports 360 Degree spatial audio recording built into its body
Omnidirectional audio is recorded not just in the horizontal direction but also in the vertical direction, making it possible to reproduce sound and video as it was in the environment where the video was shot by linking 360 Degree video and audio together
Furthermore, using the dedicated accessory 3D Microphone TA-1 (optional) scheduled for launch with the camera will allow users to pick up natural sound with a large volume of information at low to high frequency.
