Reviews around shooter (4.64 of 5)

  • -O-D-B-O are fun, they made them harder to kill, for example with a kar98k on the first map on C-O-D-W-A-W
  • To be fair, Infinity Ward, the original creators of the series made three really amazing PC shooters in the WWII genre
  • Good game... if you like shooters... not really all that different from the others in the series but fun none-the-less.
  • This game is most certainly NOT a follow up to possibly the greatest first person shooter ever, Call of Duty
  • Ghosts started a bland era of COD games- still great shooters but lack the initial passion that we had from COD1 up until BO2

Reviews around price (4.53 of 5)

  • Looks like i'll still be sticking with Valve and the few small game creators that are still making great games at affordable prices for the dedicated, and loyal PC gamers that still exist
  • If you make good games for a fair price, people will have no problem buying them
  • There has been many improvements through patches, so if you can get game for a decent price (on one of steam's Christmas sales), I would say go for it
  • the price was right, and it was a replacement for another game that was not working.
  • "oh well i at least i didn't pay for it,,,"Gezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Reviews around cod (4.21 of 5)

  • I really enjoy COD 4 but after that they never make a game that can compete with MW1
  • I've played in singleplayer mode, every CoD game available for PC up to this one and expected another good experience
  • I said it last time with MW2 that I was not going to buy another CoD game but the zombies and dev
  • 1 - I expected the graphics to be as good or better as COD MW2.
  • If you're really into the multi-player, by all means go for it, but I've heard that CoD is placing a lot more emphasis on consoles these days and neglecting their original PC platform

Reviews around money (3.92 of 5)

  • You might as well spend your money elsewhere as this game is a not worth $20.00.
  • Save your money, or punish yourself and buy this sorry excuse of a game like I did
  • With that in mind, after TRYING to play the multiplayer, you leave the game feeling as though Treyarch stole your money for an exceptionally crappy game
  • dont buy it because its a waste of time and moneyjust save your money til mw3 comes out.

Reviews around story (3.92 of 5)

  • Great gameplay, graphics, performances, story, level design and variety
  • The story is lame as hell, it's all about trying to get Mason to remember something about a sequence of "numbers."
  • The single player campaign was a good story, and that's all I expected from it
  • For what is lacking is story, is made up in explosions.
  • We all know that people were really upset with MW2; I myself was a late adopter, having been put off by all sorts of overblown stories about how bad the game was, etc

  • "oh well i at least i didn't pay for it,,,"Gezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  • The addition of game types such as wager matches and so on are really the only saving grace and show of intelligent game design and planning from Treyarch for this game
  • It was playable after that but still pretty bad frame rates, glitches as you turn fast or decals like explosions and gun flashes make your screen skip like you loaded this game on a 2000mhz p4 from 1998
  • There is still significant lag and stuttering as of 12/17/10

Reviews around gaming (3.79 of 5)

  • The campaign mode has many people split as for it's quality of storyline.
  • You need a good PC and Bandwith to have good performance gaming
  • It was playable after that but still pretty bad frame rates, glitches as you turn fast or decals like explosions and gun flashes make your screen skip like you loaded this game on a 2000mhz p4 from 1998
  • Overall - If you like the COD series and you have a decent gaming machine buy this game, don't let the one-vote reviews to trick you out.
  • I received this game as a gift, and as I have been playing Call Of Duty since the franchise began and currently own every game in the series, I looked forward to a good gaming experience, as the others had been very good.

Reviews around graphic (2.94 of 5)

  • It is a great game, has good graphics, and I especially like that it comes with zombies
  • The graphics aren't Bad, like it seems everyone else thinks they are.
  • A well put together game with lots of action and great graphics
  • The graphics are worse, yet the system requirements are higher than MW2.
  • The graphics are not bad, i would say almost as good as MW2 but nothing i would expect from a new game

Reviews around movie (2.23 of 5)

  • I stopped caring about the character because It didnt feel like I was in control, it felt like a bad movie, and I was just watching
  • And if the movie was this crappy, I'd have demanded a refund afterward
  • I would walk away to let the stupid movie like trash finish so I could actually play the game for a minute or 2 till the garbage started again
  • I guess if you like your game to feel like an old-timey silent movie, then this game is for you
  • It was like watching a bad movie with little interactive play

Reviews around review (2.21 of 5)

  • I chose to buy the game despite the negative reviews here on Amazon, so please don't make the same mistake as me.
  • I am sure you can guess why positive user reviews are so few!. THIS GAME SUCKS
  • Because of the hardware requirements, this game has gotten crappy reviews, but trust me in saying this game is way better than 1 or 2 stars
  • I'm fixing this with a GTX460 1GB - this card has dropped in price recently and has gotten very good reviews for Black Ops
  • After seeing many negative reviews on this game, I have to say that this game is a lot of fun to play on pc today

Reviews around lot (2.09 of 5)

  • Expect to die a whole lot, especially on higher difficulty settings, as you try to combat the frustrating set-pieces of enemy waves a B-movie chatter from your combat buddies, who are indeed as useless as people have said here
  • What we get instead is more of the insipidly designed "Kill a lot of folks and get rewarded with ways to kill everyone on the entire damned map" 'gameplay.
  • A lot of the reviews for this game say that it has a lot of performance issues such as nearly constant lag
  • I have tried a lot of different types of FPS games, but preferred more realistic to futuristic
  • There is a lot of graphic detail in each map and the map designers should be commended for that.

Reviews around lag (1.89 of 5)

  • Every other review talks about how bad the lag was and that was just the first few days that the game was out, not on how the multiplayer was
  • There are valid reasons for not purchasing this game such as lag, very bad graphics and sound effects.
  • Black Ops was very unpleasant to play for the first 3 weeks of release but with patches, the well known lag and stutter problems are largely over
  • You gain COD points through regular games and leveling up, as well as through Wager Matches
  • After installing it on my Dell XPS laptop, I couldn't even play the single player version nor the multiplayer version without this mysterious lag.

Reviews around port (1.85 of 5)

  • This is a terrible, lazy port of the console versions of the games, lacking basic functionality that anyone familiar with PC first-person shooters have come to expect
  • Who said "that's good enough"Basically, stay away from this awful port.
  • Steam is notoriously buggy, and combined with a buggy console port
  • Just like many releases these days, this hasty port was rushed out the door for Xmas to boost Q4 sales for Activision, and we end up with another crap game that will require patches likely to be delivered over a timeframe of weeks or months before we have the expected performance from the game we have already paid $60 for
  • -O-D-B-O are fun, they made them harder to kill, for example with a kar98k on the first map on C-O-D-W-A-W

Reviews around ai (1.83 of 5)

  • You gain COD points through regular games and leveling up, as well as through Wager Matches
  • The missions are dull, the AI is completely retarded, and most of the time you'll be watching cut-scenes instead of actually doing something
  • Sometimes you will get stuck on things and often times the scripting, like the AI waiting for you to reach a spot before doing something, is much more obvious.
  • The AI is horrible - NPCs run into your line of fire constantly, then yell about it.
  • The graphics and the textures are more rich then those in the last Medal of Honor but not as good as in Battlefield Bad Company

Reviews around company (1.82 of 5)

  • Bad Company 2 is better, but I'll get some playtime on Black Ops.
  • The graphics look dated, especially after playing Bad Company 2, but the game is fun to play... when it works
  • I've been through all the major FPS releases in the past year, including Modern Warfare 2, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and the new Medal of Honor
  • Bad Company 2 is better, but I'll get some playtime on Black Ops.
  • Today, I probably prefer Bad Company 2 and even Quake 3 to the multiplayer

Reviews around people (1.76 of 5)

  • Less boosting, no more nukes and a leveling and perk system that rewards people who have played the game longer as opposed to skilled-players
  • Like many people have said, this game is built for consoles with PC gamers second in mind.
  • they are also usually the people running the server as well, so if someone question these hackers/admins on their playing ability, the player will get automatically banned
  • Some people's systems might work better after the patches, but on many people's systems -- such as mine -- it is just unplayable
  • Some people may also take issue with being forced to use Steam as this is a Steamworks game.

Reviews around guy (1.71 of 5)

  • At first people thought that they were hacks when the guy with gunships are getting like 50 kills and dying only a couple of times
  • Now your team mates feel like the ones in CoD4 and the bad guys feel like the bad guys from CoD
  • I love the attention to detail on the first perk, such as selecting 'Ghost' will put your guy into a ghillie suit
  • And the new guys are dominated by the vets that did like the game, and that makes them cry about cheaters
  • The levels are predictable with the same bad guys in the same place, and your team mates AI still have issues jumping in front of your gun fire

Reviews around developer (1.61 of 5)

  • And after making millions upon millions from consumer dollars how do the developers spend their spoils of war
  • I might be judgmental, but I believe developers were too lazy to optimize the game for PC platform and concentrated only on consoles
  • Be happy game developers are still developing for our PCs.
  • -O-D-B-O are fun, they made them harder to kill, for example with a kar98k on the first map on C-O-D-W-A-W
  • I have no idea why the developer of this game decided to restrict the server population to only 18

Reviews around issue (1.54 of 5)

  • I don't know what all the haters of Call of Duty Black Ops are saying about crappy gameplay lag issues and all of that it is a really good game
  • should I say, WOULD BE absolutely amazing, if it weren't for the horrendous framerate issues the game presents itself with
  • My personal issues have been w/ lag (has improved since the last patching) and the game freezes during matches (no it's not a heat issue).
  • "oh well i at least i didn't pay for it,,,"Gezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  • I myself had little issues playing this- like bugs, freezes or glitches for that matter
