" hey go to this place, they'll give a great price" place says, " we don't take those, they are too problematic" great, so now I am stuck, out several hundreds of dollars, haven't been able to record one single song to
That is a great price for all the inputs it has and midas made mic pres
I like the package very much, and the price was much, much better than the music store websites were offering for the same product
The VSL effects and controls are to me an absolutely stellar feature and makes recording an enjoyable experience always
So I call him up and try for over 2 months to get this worked out, (meanwhile I'm chomping at the bit with new songs and am about to pull my hair out sitting here for hours trying to figure this program out) but I can never get past just recording a simple guitar track without it crapping out
But this vast range gives me great flexibility while recording, playing back and mixing
and instead I use the knob as a way to simply adjust the volume to get an optimal recording vs. playback level
Any ASIO compliant recording software should work with this
I bought this interface because it was USB 2.0 compatible, had MIDI interfaces, and 4 mic inputs with 48V phantom for all
This is an in depth review as I wish to cover all facets of this amazing little device.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------Features:1) 2 solid XLR combo inputs with excellent xmax preamps (found on their more expensive devices like the famous StudioLive mixers)
n’t blame them for being unable to fix your problems, because really the 1818SLV is hopeless.
There are far too many manufacturers of decent input devices to have to take a chance that this box will give you the same trouble.
For most people, the 4 inputs on the 44VSL will be fine, but I really wanted at least 6, so the upgrade makes sense for me
I still haven't recorded guitars, bass, keyboards, but if I can get a great drum sound right away, I'm sure other instruments will sound just as good if not better
I had to pump full levels on my board just to monitor fuzzy sound
Great feature set, superb build, amazing sound, semi-professional to professional class
ASIO driver)- Mic pre-amps produce a good, clean sound and direct recording of guitar or bass sounds good as well- Box case is build solid, all controls are tight and
The built in pro effects and fat channels allow the recording artist to hear that "live" vibe and whatever else that may provide a boost in the performance of a song that will not be recorded (unless you want to) so that you capture the best performance possible, but still record flat so that you can mix to whatever suits the artist and song the best
Using VSL, Fat Channel effects can be saved with the recorded audio or just used for the monitor mix while recording.
FYI Presonus calls all these effects in summation as FAT channel effects
Wanted to pass along this information because I hadn't seen it in other reviews, but this audio interface is perfectly compatible with the new Garageband 2011 as well as with Mac OSX Lion.
The RME gear, as great as it is, is harder to find, WAY more expensive, and honestly, isn't housed in as sturdy an enclosure as the 22VSL
Some users have managed to have limited success with the AudioBox and Windows 7 depending upon what motherboard various computer manufacturers use effecting their BIOS and other differences
If I bring up sound devices in Windows with no DAW open and flip to the "recording" tab, I can hear a "pop" and then Windows sound is disabled again as if I was in my DAW.
Then I got the simpler Mackie Blackjack which has the best preamps I've heard on a sub-$200 device but is burdened with unstable Windows drivers that eventually wore out my patience
So basically what this means is using the inputs now disables Windows outputs.
I had issues with reinstalling drivers on my recently upgraded Windows 7 system, which has been working great
Windows 8 Driver issue not solved , even on the updated driver , you ll have a clicking noise or static noise during play
I initially faced some driver issues while plugging it into Windows 8 USB 3.0 ports
Now that they have sorted out the driver issues with this thing, it is worth owning as a simple, on-the-go interface.
I had a budget M-Audio interface in the past that was a constant battle - driver issues, audio pops, and M-Audio discontinued the box and no longer supports
