Pros -Decent price pointNear silent focusingSolid build (feels sturdy/solid)Great image quality, great for portrait work with it's depth of field abilities
I love the price for this lensThe only bad thing I have to say is the shipping of lens was horrible
The price to performance ratio on the lens is outstanding
It performes better than I expected at a great price (vs buying the G master series) !
the 85mm Batis(which is also a sweet lens and twice the price)

unlike Canon L lenses where the image is really sharp then a harsh border and it's out of focus.
The lens is very sharp, produces beautiful images, and it’s also relatively lightweight and a very convenient size
I'm sure the G-Master lenses exceed this in quality, but at almost 5 times the cost
I use with my sony a7iI and the images are very, very sharp.
Fits on the A7R body amazing, focus ring is very smooth, it's a great size.

This is the kind of lens that many hoped Sony would be focusing on when the alpha mirrorless series first came out -- compact size to go with the compact camera but with good/decent performance, but alas that was not the case as many of the FE lenses (especially fast and zoom lenses) are as large as or larger than the equivalent Nikon/Canon lenses.
The 67 mm lens is a good size and let's in ample light especially with an aperture of 1.8
Without the lens hood the lens is a reasonable size, roughly 3.5” off of the face of the camera
Not really a con, (should be expected), but I feel it might be worth mentioning - This lens is fixed at 85mm, which is a flattering focal length for people's faces, but it's not going to allow you much flexibility

IMO, there is nothing quite as pointless as lugging around a huge/heavy/expensive Zeiss/G Master lens on your small A7 series IMO, but to each his or her own.
The 85mm f1.4 GM (G Master) lens is the one to get if you must have circular bokeh balls but at a cost of 3x the cost (although a bit faster).
I'm sure the G-Master lenses exceed this in quality, but at almost 5 times the cost
The Sony 85/1.8 autofocus works pretty well (although I believe it focuses stopped down rather than wide open aperture, but then again it seems that most Sony lenses do that) and does not "hunt" too much, except a bit more in low light conditions.
It produces fantastic images, has fast autofocus, is small, light, f1.8, and has a programmable focus hold button that the $999 Sony 55mm f1.8 doesn't even come with.

Yes, I have gone from Canon to a Sony A7rii, and the camera and this lens is phenomenal.

Once Sony finally makes an awesome high megapixel compact camera for this 85mm lens I might actually become a photographer.

Was looking for something I could get nice soft out of focus backgrounds, smooth bokeh, and sharp focus on my subject
Bokeh is awesome, eye detection spot on, fast auto focus
works amazing and produces the bokeh you want, and it a bargain for the quality and build, fast focus on 7III, Not too big to lug around and with the saving over one stop you cannot beat it.
On A6000, auto eye tracking focus does not work with this lens, however the focus is accurate and fast and I don't feel missing anything
The 85mm allows you to blur backgrounds to a nice smooth, creamy out of focus
We're running this lens on a Sony α6000, which is an APS-C sensor so this full-frame 85mm actually functions like a 120mm or something around there
and I mainly use the 85mm on my Nikon D810 as well and the Sony is flawless and just light
It is obviously not a G Master 85mm, but this lens is sharp as a tack wide open at f1.8.If you are looking for an affordable 85mm, for either your FF or APS-C e-mount Sony body, you cannot go wrong with this lens.
Pros:SharpFastBokehInexpensiveCons:Not as nice as the $1,800 G-Master 85mm 1.4mm lens
Sony is really killing the game in the camera world, both in their cameras, as well as their lenses
I really like how aggressive Sony is being with these newer FE lenses that are an incredible value
