Did try the "pods" a few days ago and they are convenient but do not make as good a cup as my own ground coffee.

I've made coffee both ways and the flavor is great with both.

Using dark roast coffee pods flavor is full and strong.

If you like a strong coffee flavor use the basket without the dispersion lid

The ability to brew K-cups or bagged, fresh ground coffee is a great feature.

As a small single Serve coffee maker in my opinion is better than Kurig l have had in past lasted less than a year using 2 times a day with treated water and regular cleaning this unit also gets much hotter giving coffee a better taste

I'd swear you can hear the water boiling in the machine during the brewing cycle

I use a #2 paper filter with my ground coffee and make it just as strong as I like it.

The next cup I made water boiled and spewed out of the reservoir before coffee that did not taste very good poured into my mug

If you use pods no difference but grounds are a little bit trickier as you need to adjust either the amount of water or the amount of grounds to brew your preferred taste

the only thing I don't like is the bit of "mud" in the bottom of my cup

Only issue is it’s a bit difficult to clean once it gets clogged with hard water stains

so I just wait a couple of minutes for it to cool just a bit in a regular coffee

I lost the lid to the small basket used to fill with my own coffee grounds.

I feel like I am going to break the lid when I open up the pod compartment.

Seems like the lid is very flimsy and doesn't have any locking mechanism.

It looks like many people here are experiencing problems with this machine, please save your money and buy a better coffeemaker.

But if you really dislike coffee and you want to convince other people to hate coffee, too, you should buy this machine.

We aren't impatient people, but this machine took forever to warm up the water and even longer to brew anything.

I get up in the morning, grind some organic coffee beans, put them in the screened container and fill with pre-measured water

I generally use ground coffee beans, but like the option of being able to use the kcups for a variety of different types of coffee

I have used commercially ground coffee, as well as beans run through my own burr grinder - both methods produce a small amount of this very fine powder that makes it to bottom of the cup

Yes, some other reviewers have mentioned it's not hot enough, but they're adding cream, etc., which cools it down (who knew?)

But...as other reviewers have said, as the water boils and just before the dispensing begins, the water boils so vigorously that it bubbles out the overflow hole at the rear
