they were just about right not perfect again pretty well balanced with the lows I've heard a few headphones with the mids completely washed out but not in theseHighs 6/10 now this is what I had a problem with the highs were harsh!

Comfort can be a little exaggerated on some of the reviews here, and while I will say it's very good, I can't honestly vouch for being able to wear these prolonged periods of time without any discomfort

I bought a set of the original "Made in Austria" K240's back in 1998, and they finally died after 12 years of solid service all over the world.

These are just a very poor set of headphones for the money, and I would advise staying away from this model.

You probably won't find a better set of headphones at ANY price.

These are supremely accurate phones; they reproduce just what was recorded.

After reading some Audiophile forums, I found that its good to "break in" your head phones by just letting them play music at a medium level for a few hours

I am NOT a bass freak so these phones are great as the bass is there, but is tight and accurate

Don't waste you money on more expensive head phones because I doubt there will be a significant improvement in sound.

I admit that I was expecting more low bass due to the semi-open design as opposed to a pair of open design headphones I use

It's a stronger fit than other headphones I've used with removable wires, but also a slightly confusing design choice

The open-back design is inappropriate for recording (they are not marketed for that purpose), as sound can bleed into microphones

Plus the semi-open design gives you decent isolation without cutting you off from the world

Like a lot of AKGs, the physical design is weird, and you'll probably either love it or hate it

The K 240 55-ohm headphones will work for most basic applications except for perhaps tracking or other situations where sound leakage in or out is a concern

And I occassionally go back to my original set of AKG's purchased in 1976 and they still sound awesome, although the rubber ear pads have become rather hardened and I cant wear them for long

To me they sound great, as good as my M-Audio studio monitors

They are light and the ear pieces cup your ears just enough to keep out ambient noise, but don't smash your ears into the side of your head

I'm not a huge fan on the Semi Open design, mostly due to the fact that I have kids, and the amount of time I get to sit an listen to music in a quiet house is very, VERY limited...and when used in any environment with ambient noise, these become too quiet (IMO).That said, if you DO get the chance to sit and just enjoy these, the sounds is very good, and the cans are very comfy (I prefer the cloth covers)

In summary:They sound fantastic, but the cheap flimsy plastic they're made of breaks very easily, and all the sound quality in the world doesn't matter when they're broken
