The large size is perfect for making dinner for the whole family

It makes the best grilled paninis, sandwiches and grilled steak

Steaks grill to perfection, hot sandwiches are delicious.

I know that not the most scientific method to test, but sandwiches are browner on bottom than top as well

The top plate, even though it made a click into the brackets and seemed to be locked in place, has come loose twice.

The top plate does not get as hot as the bottom one same as first one I owned

The bottom plate lies flat so grease sits between the raised grill surfaces rather than running into the reservoir, but below the food, so not an issue.

It's a little finicky to put the top plate back on the griddler

You can avoid this by locking the top plate everytime you open it

I called to try and get cuisinart to help with the shipping cost to send back their faulty product

Cuisinart acted like it was my fault their product was defective

(we sold you a defective product and think you should pay us for it fee) plus pay for shipping.

I gave it 3 stars because the top dosen't heat as well as the bottom.

The owners manual states that smoking is normal when heating the grill for the first time.

Heating elements are not built in, so heating is uneven top and bottom

The regular, less expensive Cuisinart Griddler, is not 1800 watts and doesn't get the 500*F that this appliance does

One thing I never thought about is that because you're essentially cooking twice as fast, you're losing much of the sear on both sides because the meat is not cooking as long.

It's really disappointing but a simple design flaw can completely ruin and otherwise decent griddle.

plates are reversal able, the drip pan is in the back, and you can raise top sompaninis are not smashed.

Also, the drip pan seems to have melted (it's on the back of the unit) so I can't remove it to clean it.

Rear drip pan appears to be well conceived and since it is mounted within the chassis of the machine, not prone to accidental movement or spillage.

It does not works well for making scrambled eggs since the eggs run off the drain.

I love it for making omelets, pancakes, and scrambled eggs.

It is wonderful for scrambled eggs, pancakes, bacon, quesadillas, chicken breasts, hamburgers, etc.

Very easy to clean, works well for just about anything you want to use it for, just don't try to make scrambled eggs, as the slanted surface will cause them to run into the grease collector.
