What I like about the GRP99 is the size and the removable grill plates.

Also new for the latest models are the removable griddle plates, which simplifies cleaning (very easy cleanup, by the way)

She loves the fact that the grill plates come apart for easy cleaning by hand or in the dishwasher

but if they hadn't I wouldn't be rushing to purchase another one, probably go back to one of their older models and live with the horrible cleaning.

The second thing I like is the size, it is much larger than our old grill.

all food cooked losses alot of fat and the food tastes great

You don't have to stand over the stove anymore and your food is not too greasy.

This helps in avoiding burnt food yet the boneless skinless chicken thighs which I cook most often on it do not brown as well.

So if you start something and get distracted your food will burn to a crisp and continue burning for up to an hour.

I also liked how easy it was to clean the plates and how well it cooked my food, once I got used to the temps and timing.

The unit burned out on the first use It heated up to 425 then shut down and would not work

The unit broke after its 2nd use - and could hear stuff rattling around on the inside

The new unit worked better but was still not grilling the meat the way I wanted it

I simply wiped down the plates with a damp paper towel (while attached to the hot unit, don't try this at home, kids!

The handles on the removable plates are a bit loose and wobbly and a screw or two may have fallen out (stripped) but the latches still work to hold them onto the heating surfaces

The reviews are great, it has an automatic shutoff on the timer, and it can be used as either a closed contact grill or the top can be laid out flat to provide twice the grilling capacity

As noted previously, it doesn’t get hot enough to act as a grill (i.e., no searing) and, despite its size, heats only towards the center making it usable less than its size would suggest
