  • Oh cool if it is Debian based, I can install all kinds of cool things
  • Ubiquiti could take a card from Netgear's "Eco" line and only ramp up the fans when the thing is *actually* hot (in need of cooling)
  • I guess one nice thing is that you can customize every port and assign different rules to different ports

Reviews around issue (5.00 of 5)

  • Works great, no issues.
  • As long as you are aware of the qirks, and know a BASH scripting, then you can work you way around most issues
  • Works great, no issues.

Reviews around documentation (5.00 of 5)

  • Fourth, the documentation (available only online) isn't very good
  • The unit needs better documentation to me because there are pictures in the guide that for instance show a hardware monitor GUI with temp = normal in green and
  • No decent documentation for that seems to exist

Reviews around engineer (5.00 of 5)

  • Thankfully I work in an IT company as a Senior Engineer and have boxes of longer cables
  • A very capable network person or engineer would be what I would think otherwise if you are just a techie or consumer you'll probably run into trouble

Reviews around level (5.00 of 5)

  • This device should only be used by top level professionals who are not bothered by working in the CLI environment and have been there, done that with Ubiquiti equipment.
  • The level of performance for the price point is unparalleled

Reviews around unit (5.00 of 5)

  • The unit is solid only wish the log was formatted better to read
  • Considering this is a $300 router and it outperforms $1200 Cisco units, not much to complain about

Reviews around product (4.03 of 5)

  • The whole product lacks the polish of what is supposed to be a commercial product.
  • So a great product with limited support and a poor out of box experience, thus four stars.
  • Read remaining 6 reviews for product

Reviews around gui (3.86 of 5)

  • Even the Linksys GUI is more user-friendly than the EdgeRouter Pro
  • The GUI seems, incomplete.
  • The GUI is good but not as slick as something you will see on a home router
  • the hardware is there, just screaming for a good gui wrapper with more functionality

Reviews around firewall (3.61 of 5)

  • I didn't have very complex firewall, routing or NAT/port forwarding rules so that could be the reason, but I was able to use the GUI to config everything just like the Cisco.
  • This is a really nice firewall/router
  • You aren't required to license a Fortigate to use it and without a license it functions as a Firewall/Router/VPN-Router like this does
  • We bought three of these for a deployment where a more robust firewall was needed, and we initially could not get them working with a simple configuration
