Reviews around sweep (5.00 of 5)

  • Very sturdy design, great sweep feel, support for active/passive signals, no added tone color, +20db useful for overdrive, 9V external, tuner out
  • Likewise, the pot itself may go bad over time – hopefully not during a live show! The optical is certainly more reliable, but I’ve noticed that the sweep on the Morley is not as smooth as the sweep on the MVP

Reviews around boost (5.00 of 5)

  • An A/B with a passive VPJR is like night and day tone wise
  • If you are using a separate volume pedal and clean boost, and want to simplify your rig, you might consider this
  • This pedal provides completely transparent boost, and allows me to adjust volume instantly on the fly without trying to grab a volume knob on my guitar
  • And hey, you might even be able to drop your lead boost pedal from your chain.
  • Adjustable boost up to 20db, clean, quiet, transparent.

Reviews around knob (5.00 of 5)

  • The MVP, like the Morley, has a minimum knob which allows you to set a lower volume in the toe up position
  • the other end the maximum knob is somewhat more intuitive:
  • If using for unity at minimum, then next song off at minimum its difficult to set the right volume...the knob is quite sensitive and is determined by the boost knob as well
  • One of the cheapest decent active/buffered pedals...even if both knobs were set to zero its worth it
  • when you're in heel position with both the volume and gain knob at zero, you still hear sound from the amp

Reviews around idea (5.00 of 5)

  • Great idea
  • I love the idea
  • While I like the idea of having some tone controls on my volume pedal - if I get another it won't be this one

Reviews around feature (5.00 of 5)

  • The gain control is a very good feature by using for exemple different kinds of guitars with different output levels - here you can adjust the level without changing your amp settings.
  • That being said, I can see where this feature would be very helpful before OR after your drives
  • Personally, I have never used this feature as I prefer to do swells from no volume to full volume

Reviews around control (5.00 of 5)

  • The MVP pedal action is much tighter compared to the DeArmond and I prefer that because it makes fine control easier (no doubt decades of use have loosened up the DeArmond but even in its prime I remember wishing it were a little stiffer)
  • If I were back in my club-gig days, tossing equipment in and out of dark trunks, I might question the open access to the pedal’s internal components under the foot control – too easy to get picks and other small items stuck in
  • I've been using these types of pedals for years but this updated version with minimum volume and gain control is very nice. being able to change the pedal from a full mute to a damper pedal for volume is very useful and the overdrive gives that extra boost the signal needs

Reviews around action (5.00 of 5)

  • The action on this pedal is smooth and responsive
  • The action is also awesomely smooth for doing those post-rock volume swells

Reviews around doe (5.00 of 5)

  • This is an awesome pedal that does what it's supposed to do plus more.
  • It does actually sound great, and there is definitely no tone or volume loss

Reviews around gain (3.86 of 5)

  • The extra gain sounds great on the Ernie ball MVP and really adds more bite to his soloing
  • Useful for when you want to alternate between foreground and background volume.- Adjustable gain, so you can control your volume on the fly
  • Wouldn't recommend spending the extra 60 on this - if you need a good gain/boost
  • My only complaint is the gain

Reviews around signal (3.22 of 5)

  • If you have a setup that doesn't require your signal to be completely killed, then this pedal could certainly work for you.
  • Speaking of impact on pure signal, I couldn’t detect much loss with the MVP
  • Very sturdy design, great sweep feel, support for active/passive signals, no added tone color, +20db useful for overdrive, 9V external, tuner out
  • You can boost your signal for leads if you want - Small footprint.
  • Love the active buffer - it really brings your tone back to life and brightens up the signal if it's gone dark from a long chain of pedals

Reviews around tone (3.02 of 5)

  • Love the active buffer - it really brings your tone back to life and brightens up the signal if it's gone dark from a long chain of pedals
  • They took the most popular mod to the VPJr(the buffer and no tone suck feature) and incorporated it into this unit

Reviews around sound (2.18 of 5)

  • No ton sucking, the original sound of the guitar is totally respected!
  • No ton sucking, the original sound of the guitar is totally respected!
  • The passive volume pedal sounds slightly dull and dark while the MVP sounds bright and sparkly, especially on the high end of the sweep
  • It makes a loud clicking sound and whatever is making the sound, I can feel it with my foot
  • but I haven't tuned in the right sound yet
