WARNING: The solder...
Helicopter segment greatly improved also, as the 2004 version never seemed to work right.
This version is a huge improvement over FS2000, Large improvement over FS2002, good improvement over FS2004.One
Given the slowness, I actually enjoy FS 2004 more than this one, as this version can be quite frustrating, despite the very detailed and beautiful graphics.
This version is my favorite because of all the features
This version is a huge improvement over FS2000, Large improvement over FS2002, good improvement over FS2004.One
So to wrap up - I highly recommend this simulator to any Aerolover as myself
With the precision needed on an instrument flights, this simulator becomes difficult as it more or less floats to a turned direction but is not very easy to make minor heading corrections.
It once was the best Flight Simulator for PC on the market
I do NOT recommend this simulator unless you have the ultimate gaming system.
There a learning curve but it isn¡¦t that steep -- at first.
SP2Of course, with the system specs metioned above, you would get better performance with Windows XP.
I'm going back to Flight Simulator 2004 just because I can get better scenery and performance than this one.
I think it is an overall good update to the Flight Simulator series, and its performance is actually not bad on my PC.
Don't forget their are also 2 updated patches that you should download from the MSFX website and install them to get better performance out of the game
You'll get equivalent graphics and performance, if not better.
What's Improved: the graphicsThe graphics have improved.
Let me put it this way-I haven't seen worse graphics since the mid-90's
However, you will loose all the pretty graphics that is capable in FSX
While the graphics are not great they are better than Fs9.
Flight Simulator X (FSX) can be run on most any system nowadays, but running it on a computer that barely meets the minimum requirements will give you an experience with poor framerates and poor graphics.
Until then, unless you've Just Yesterday purchased a spanking new machine, pick up a copy of FS9 on sale for $20.My score
As some other user said, Flight Simulator X needs a strong machine to run properly and efficiently
you can't see all graphics and detail without a super machine
I had to customize the graphics detail to reduce quality on the items not important to me, and seeing what the game can do with the right hardware does encourage one to get a faster machine, but the simulator is very enjoyable on my "older" hardware
sure however I would prefer the fantastic visual effects they have included as opposed to just remaking FS 2004.Once more, if you are running a really slow or low end machine it may not be worth your money but the way games are today, there is not much in the way of graphically intense games that will run on these PC's
So to wrap up - I highly recommend this simulator to any Aerolover as myself
The only jet that gives you any forward viz at all is the Airbus; however, it has a fatal flaw in that when you switch on the autopilot, you loose the ability to steer the aircraft regardless of the autopilot mode.
I have MS FS 2004 and X-plane 8 and let me tell you I deleted MS FS 2004 as fast as I could
I've run FS9 on several machines with a variety of graphics cards and processor speeds, and although it runs faster or slower as you might expect, it's still fundamentally the same experience
There is a fatal flaw in Flight Simulator X, and I cannot recommend it

The graphics look great, but the slow frame rate makes this game unusable in my opinion
The frame rate is adequate, the graphics are impressive, and the flight model is really good.
I've run FS9 on several machines with a variety of graphics cards and processor speeds, and although it runs faster or slower as you might expect, it's still fundamentally the same experience
I was dissapointed when I still got kicked out of the game and got frame rates slow enough to frustrate you

He has 512MB of Ram, a 256MB ATI Video Card, a 120GB Hard Disk, and a 3.00GHZ Intel Pentium
5 stars there if you have a supercomputer, but their aircraft in FS-X suffer from this common problem, no forward visiblilty with a 2-D usable panel.
I haven't done much with the multiplayer, so I won't argue from ignorance, but you have to have a GameSpy ID (easy enough to get, and free), and you have to basically have a broadband connection - anything slower will lag to the point of being unplayable.-The game is practically unplayable without a joystick of some kind.
My first version was on a PowerMac back in the 90s on a computer that a total hard disk of 1 gig
Has "Flying Lessons" with, granted, a guy who has the corniest sense of humor I've ever heard...but humor aside...still really cool and as far as I (a non pilot) can tell, seems like the tests are fairly realistic with the exception that you "can" bypass startup, mixture, rudders, etc.
After three attempts to down load this progran, each time a failure, I contacted Microsoft to help.
Oh, and to cut down on the abysmal flight load speeds, maybe upgrade to SCSI hard drive(s).Of course for that kind of money I could go to ground school at the local
Last year I had a terrible time loading FSX into my computer but was finally successful after several days

ATC would get so annoying in FS9 that I got to where I didn't even want to fool with it.
like the Bad ATC guys who often mislead you and cause you to crash etc
, ATC doesn't stay with me during the whole flight.2.I can't get rid of that wimpy ATC text display, and just have voice.3.On the Control Settings pages, the gear extend/retract is just one command.
So to wrap up - I highly recommend this simulator to any Aerolover as myself
Still no ability to declare an emergency which is sort of a disappoint since you ARE able to set engines to fail or to run out of fuel (or both)
Microsoft FS X is a great flying simulation however the graphics engine that is used is a bit archaic
For the 747, I can't gang throttle all four engines, or split them 2-2 with the available throttle control setup.5
If you have them you'll find yourself spending hours and hours flying above gorgeous landscapes, commmunicating with people all over the world, surviving a dead engine and/or faulty mechanics and generally having fun

Oh, and it really does take up 15 Gig of hard drive space
It latches onto available joystick (in my case it was a Saitek AVR08 - PS-41 driven by Windows 7 default drivers without any Saitek software in sight) and works with that too.

, 1GB of RAM, and 100GB hard drive that is only about 1/3 full
