During original setup I attempted to set the "Smart Connect" feature.

Smart connect is pretty neat, but connects my iPhone XS on 2.4g more often than it should.

So i turned off Smart Connect and thought that was that.

Unfortunately their tech support did not identify the problem

the reason that Tech Support only has a 3 is because I didn't have to use it

Plus, power cycling the router restores the frequency, for a little while, and then signal strength is strong.

Much better than the older netgear router and it seems like the signal strength is better, so have retired the wifi extender at this point

I can only connect to the 5GHZ network, the normal 2.4GHZ network does not appear in the wifi list which makes it impossible to connect some device for lacking 5G compatibility.

ASUS AC2900 transmitted 5G about 50% better than CR1900 to an Android TV box on another floor and looked like it might be the winner UNTIL, the WPS failed to connect 5G to 2 of my extenders AND after I had all the guest networks perfectly set up, the ASUS suddenly erased ALL my main settings and reset itself to defaults

but I don't really need it anymore due to the great wifi range I am now getting from the tp-link ac2600.

I was upgrading a 6 year old ASUS router because the signal kept dropping, the range was poor even across our open floorplan, 1500 sq ft home, and even when I did have strong

Good signal good coverage for my humble abode, probably overkill for my needs

The router was easy to set up and provides good coverage for a large house

I also get much better coverage in the top floor of the house (router is in the basement).Only complaint is my old router was also a TP-Link (Archer C7), which failed after just 2.5 years (with a 2-year warranty)

I cannot recommend this product, nor the customer support.

I would really recommend this product for anyone who doesnt want to punch holes in walls or staple CATx to their walls.

I read that this router was rated at a 1.7 Gbps wireless download speed and was shocked to see it this was achieving slower speeds than my original issued router

I found that my prior wireless router was limiting my overall speed to 50 mbps

The speeds were pretty slow at first but the manufacturers support was available via chat at 11pm for me

That said, it provides great LAN connectivity for my computers, and super fast internet speeds

The range did not provide service throughout my house and the speed was slow.

and I consistently get more than that via wireless on 5GHz band while also supporting 10+ smart plugs/devices.

The same devices where able to connect at a much further distance, and the throughput (connection speed) was significantly faster.

The 5 GHz works fine, but the other doesn't and if you use smart devices, like Alexa or smart switches they rely on 2.4 GHz

TP-Link also has a really good system for me to manage my 2.4 and 5.0 users list, I can block any stranger device anytime that i want.

Easy to connect all devices; even my nontech wife connected all her devices with ease.
