  • other version had goals - like win all games as each character and get something special for a room.no goal her for wining as each character.
  • The prior releases on prior systems, surpassed this version.
  • So if you enjoyed the Wii version, you’ll feel no difference using the Switch controllers
  • The wife and I loved that version and it is still our go to one for a great Mario Party experience.
  • Now excuse me while I go buy a used Wii U and play a decent version of Mario Party.

Reviews around time (4.41 of 5)

  • We all have a good time playing an updated, good looking version of Mario Party.
  • Secondly, Wasted time, so much theatrics in this it just feels like I am waiting to play the whole time
  • It works in your favor if you're having a hard time, too
  • I hated this game until i realized that i should probably play party games with more than just myself if i want to have a good time.
  • Not sure why everyone is giving this game a hard time

Reviews around addition (4.32 of 5)

  • n’t had fun with a video since the MARIO party since for Nintendo 64 great
  • The minigames are fun, the presentation and charming, the additions such as the novelty modes and character dice progress the series rather than undermine it, and the motion controls work surprisingly well
  • Or you’re denying a would-be giftee much joy and many laffs/tiffs with friends.
  • A pretty solid % of minigames are legitimately engaging.- Each character has their own special dice block to use instead of the regular block if you wish, and it is a really fun new addition to the game.- Outside of classic mode, the River Survival, Partner Party, and Toad's Rec Room are fun little novelties

Reviews around party (4.15 of 5)

  • Or you’re denying a would-be giftee much joy and many laffs/tiffs with friends.
  • All in all, the board maps and mini games are simplistic and fun for any age, so I would recommend, but if you are going to attempt to play online with friends, I would not recommend as that would be a waste of time and money.
  • The game itself is fun, but i do have a few gripes about super mario party that i do not like
  • They rejoiced that this game is a return to form as opposed to that awful Mario Party 10 on Wii U and it's stupid Amiibo Party Mode.
  • It is worth picking up after the horrible past 2 Mario parties.

Reviews around mario (4.07 of 5)

  • But with Super Mario Party, the core board game is back
  • It lost it's real spirit of competition game play and caters to cheap stars, limited items, small maps and this is coming from a die hard Mario party lover since part 1
  • A definite break from some of the more intense titles released this fall Mario party returns to form.
  • Definitely not what I expected from this Super Mario Party.
  • The game itself is fun, but i do have a few gripes about super mario party that i do not like

Reviews around variety (4.03 of 5)

  • IT give boards greater variety than standard Mario Party Mode
  • There's a good variety and a good mix of button games and motion games
  • n’t had fun with a video since the MARIO party since for Nintendo 64 great
  • All in all, the board maps and mini games are simplistic and fun for any age, so I would recommend, but if you are going to attempt to play online with friends, I would not recommend as that would be a waste of time and money.

Reviews around family (4.03 of 5)

  • Or you’re denying a would-be giftee much joy and many laffs/tiffs with friends.
  • Overall, this game is the BEST FAMILY GAME ON NINTENDO SWITCH
  • As a mom of two, ever since we got the switch, I’ve been trying to find a family game that our whole family can enjoy
  • All in all, the board maps and mini games are simplistic and fun for any age, so I would recommend, but if you are going to attempt to play online with friends, I would not recommend as that would be a waste of time and money.
  • Despite some minor gripes, my whole family finds it enjoyable.

Reviews around fun (3.86 of 5)

  • This is really not acceptable as it give ahead of time indication who will win this game and kills the fun
  • The mini games are simplistic but fun to play multiplayer
  • Super fun to play with small groups, especially the dancing mini games
  • It's still a fun, entertaining game, but I feel like there are some easy changes that could be made.
  • If you don’t like this game, or have a fistful of dollars you’re looking to spend on a switch game and you don’t buy this, you hate fun.

Reviews around mode (3.47 of 5)

  • You cannot play in portable mode or use a pro controller.
  • You can play this minigames in the board game mode, as well as in separate minigame-only modes
  • While the game itself lives up to its predecessors, the promised online mode is simply terrible
  • They rejoiced that this game is a return to form as opposed to that awful Mario Party 10 on Wii U and it's stupid Amiibo Party Mode.
  • Until they fix this terrible online mode of the game, this review will remain at one star!

Reviews around board (2.99 of 5)

  • Good mini games, boards are pretty good, motion controls are kinda fun too and much more accurate than Wiimotes used to be
  • The only other complaint I have so far is only 4 boards
  • The same boards from the main party boards are made more grid-like for this mode
  • I really miss the big boards where you had to gamble and strategize when and where to go and what to do
  • I am just in shock of how small and boring the boards are

Reviews around controller (2.54 of 5)

  • The game requires you to play with a single uncomfortable joycon "controller".
  • Due to the mini game gameplay style, It does not support the switch pro controller or handheld mode
  • Although the problem is that most of the game can be cleared by just shaking the controller
  • My first question was what controllers would it support
  • As others have already mentioned, the pro controllers aren't supported

Reviews around star (2.22 of 5)

  • its fun but super limited and stars are way too easy to get
  • It lost it's real spirit of competition game play and caters to cheap stars, limited items, small maps and this is coming from a die hard Mario party lover since part 1
  • The boards are more interesting than the simple squares on 10, but since they're larger, that makes your chances of actually being able to reach a star even more random luck.
  • Every time when i am in the first place 3 rounds before the end of the game & when the experts announce who will win the game they use to help them by giving them special tools & shot cuts to get more stars and win the game.
  • To me, it seems like the boards are too small, the stars are too cheap and the board gives out too many coins

Reviews around lack (1.29 of 5)

  • But what really blows about this game is the lack of real online multiplayer
  • My only issues are the lack of content and the underwhelming online mode
  • Another complaint I have is the lack of online multiplayer functionality
  • The lack of maps alone should be enough to convince any Mario Party fan of that
  • Unfortunately the lack of first party Switch titles leave me starved for games and my standards continue to lower.

Reviews around joy cons (1.00 of 5)

  • If I do, it’ll be with somebody else, and the Joy Cons will do
  • These help make the Joy Cons feel more natural and easier to play with
  • I recommend having an extra pair of Joy-Cons around for best multiplayer experience, but don't worry about having two Switches and two copies of the game, as the multi-screen minigames are underwhelming in my opinion.
  • My only regret is now I have to buy an extra set of Joy Cons so my whole family can play together
  • just fine.)Can't review the game itself as my family booted it up to play only to have our hopes dashed as we don't have enough controllers, and I'm not spending another $100 or whatever to get another pair of Joy Cons and some holders to make them slightly less hand-destroying

Reviews around review (1.00 of 5)

  • Second, other reviews complain about not having a handheld mode (which there is if a friend brings an extra switch console)
  • Almost all of the negative reviews are complaining that you can't play it in handheld mode, but it's a party game
  • The bad reviews seem to be from people who never played the game before or enjoy using the joy cons as controllers
  • Others who wrote bad reviews are only complaining about using joy cons or needing to buy more controllers to do more than one player

Reviews around block (1.00 of 5)

  • When it was your turn, you could quickly hit the dice block, and your character would then move quickly across the board
  • The new mechanics such as personalized dice blocks, allies and partner game type are all excellent additions
  • Allies lend you their dice block, and then roll a standard block for you on every turn
