If you just want to listen or are licensed, you'll find it to be a great buy.
I'm not going to rehash any of the other reviews, this is a great buy.
This is the second one I bought - didn't really need it but couldn't pass it up at this price (just another impulsive buy).
This was packaged poorly and missing the strap and headset the radio itself is great and a great buy.
so I was concerned that it would be as equally cheap in quality but it has been a great buy and the fact that it came with the charger base and hands free

As a buyer of well-over 300 Baofeng radios (and counting) for the group I belong to (not all of which were purchased through Amazon but many were), I'm always amazed at the lengths some sellers go to to hype their products as being "newer" or "better" than other models, or perhaps (to give them the benefit of the doubt
i recommend this product for those baofeng radio users
with the radio being received out of the packaging I wonder if it may have been a defective product now
Cheap price for a ham radio, if considering purchasing I would highly recommend as it has good range, and great battery life

Range is good for a handheld, and the quality on this thing blows away $40 FRS/GMRS radios (which of course are in UHF band on this thing, letting me use it with non-licensed friends for local tom foolery).I really like this

This radio doubles as a UHF/VHF Commercial Band radio and includes programming features specifically for that and can transmit as high as 520 MHz!The battery is a Li-ion which is a plus, but the wall adapter is pretty cheap (read this as cheesy and light weight in design and durability
Still learning what it all does before the battery dies.
This is a great, compact, radio that does the job very well.
It seems to work but does have an issue pulling in a signal compared to my other radio
Every UV-5R series radio has the ability to transmit from 136-174 MHz on VHF and from 400-520 MHz on UHF in both narrow-band and wide-band modes (very useful for the occasional FRS or MURS use, which requires narrow-band mode to work correctly).Every model does "at least" 4W on VHF/UHF from the factory, but occasionally you'll get a batch that does 4.5W or even 5W out, but the difference between 4W and 5W is minimal at best.
Squelch doesn't work and neither does the signal meter but for this price i can live with it.
I ordered 2 of these and on one, the button to turn the light on top on didnt work and also the audio/mic jack wouldnt work
Also, know that although this WILL tune through the frequencies, you're stepping rather slowly with a button and scanning is just as slow
The only thing that stinks is you have to buy a seperate accessory (sync wire) to disable the PTT button, if you're a non-licensed owner
Number 2 button didn't work but also when programmed the same as my other UV-5R (both running same firmware), I didn't receive much and barely held the weather stations locally wich are a very strong signal
