This dedicated document scanner is more convenient than using the scan function on my all-in-one printer, and has become my tool of choice.
This works very nicely as a small, duplex document scanner on my Mac
Although it is not as fast at 25ppm as Epson's desktop document scanners, like the DS-760 for example, it nevertheless will be very useful for anyone needing to copy or record documents on business trips or on the road
So, unless you need to use its advanced features I would recommend just using the document scanner that comes with Windows itself

The portability is where this scanner really shines.
The scanner on my printer (which is about 10 years old now) is slow and doesn't always cooperate; I love the portability of this scanner (so I can take it between work and home) and how small it is for storage

If you are out in the field and need to scan documents on the fly, this is an excellent product
This product would be even more versatile if you were able to truly pick it up and go places and not have to worry about extra cables or being near a computer
For those who know that they will need a potable scanner from time to time this is a great product and I would not hesitate to recommend it.

The single pass duplex scanning makes it very quick to scan a stack of double sided forms and the software does a good job of saving a single PDF for both pages (software configurable).The software was easy to install on my Apple Mac Book, and the rest of the setup was easy.

End of the day I found the Epson DS-320 Mobile Scanner to be a very capable performer at its price point and certainly a very portable high quality document scanner
Both are similar in size, and both accomplish the same major features, except the Brother also supports wireless connectivity over a network (so no USB required, although I choose to use USB because scanners seem to have enough hiccups without introducing the wireless network as a variable in the equation of scanning success).
The Epson DS-320 has an ingenious feature for scanning plastic cards that takes the card in from the front, rather than through the document feeder, scans it, and then ejects the card back out the front
Wireless scanning is so much slower that I consider it a worthless feature for most offices
If you can get past the size and weight, though, the scanner does offer some very handy features that are not typical of a mobile scanner
The technical features are enough to please a rising artist - likely not enough for someone who is looking for extremely detailed scans

Despite my complaints about the scanner software, where the Epson DS-320 really shines is in its extensive scanning capabilities.
The Epson is blazingly fast in comparison, although you'll have to plug it into the wall to see that.
For what the Epson DS-320 lacks in other areas, it makes it up for in performance.

Unless you just really love the Fujitsu software, there is no reason to get the S1300i over this DS-320
As big a company as Epson is, surely they can hire some software engineers who can create leaner and more user-friendly software for their scanners
My only real major complaint with this product, and the sole reason I docked it a star, is the scanning software is overly complex and not at all user friendly.
Like the software for Epson's FastFoto scanner, the software for the DS-320 is overly complex and clunky to use.
I do believe that given the jams double feeding and cumbersome software there is room for improvement with this product
