If you're still using a Mac with Thunderbolt 2 connections and are stuck using all kinds of workarounds to get decent transfer speeds from external storage then here's, well, another workaround
However the transfer speed of HDD seems a little bit slow as for USB 3.0 interface
Works great, fast transfer speeds, I haven't had any trouble with this.
hard drive(s
one of the best drives I've bought..great quality, fast transfer speeds
It's super sturdy which is why I liked it, but the fact that it lost my files makes me really unhappy
I like the fact that the other side of the short Thunderbolt cable is attached somewhere under the bumper case for all practical purposes permanently and the cable folds neatly into the groove around the side of the case
Love the fact that it's lightweight and rather fast to access the drive
I love the versatility; the fact that it charges through usb and allows me to set a password
I love the fact that it has a replaceable cable which is good
It is also available in slow 5400 speed, but this one, with FireWire 800 and 7200 speed make file transfers quick and is, to me, the one to get
While the speed of this drive (particularly over Thunderbolt) is very good, it is not rugged, and know that it will fail eventually if you accidentally eject it.
Mini SAS or thunderbolt and you will get great speed in editing.
i'm not sure if it's my computer that's dragging the speed
Just love the USB 3 speed and it works extremely well as my backup drive on the Macbook.

Amazon made a clear distinction between two similar versions of the same model, enabling me to comfortably choose the version that best met my needs, 2) the LaCie Rugged Thundersbolt 3.0 2TB unit works as advertised
Hoping maybe someone will comment on this review if they know a way I can possibly recover as I had a significant amount of files saved only to this drive...nothing too dramatic but sure would like to have them back
I am confuse and about to return it for false advertising
I bought this to backup my Mac photo, video and music library as well as to be the drive where those libraries resided
I was reading about the 3 yr limited warranty and product which states
I bought this to backup my Mac photo, video and music library as well as to be the drive where those libraries resided
You will not find it on the device when you register it, unless you open the casing, which would break your manufacturerʻs warranty.

The so-call Lacie company no longer supports or respects any warranty as they were apparently bought by Segate that does not provide any support for this product.
Great running over Thunderbolt and the included backup software is great.

You can also choose to reformat the drive, lose the software and run with a straight-up external lettered drive.
Only solution offered by LaCie was purchasing additional software to recover data that their product lost
the software for formatting/reformatting is a bit confusing.
After just 3 weeks of use, the connection has gotten even looser, now even the lightest movement of the cable disconnects the drive
The drive is good quality hense the 3 star rating, but I wish it was made more clear that the thunderbolt usb 3.0 version was not as fast as the usb-c
Fast and quiet and Thunderbolt connection makes it super reliable.

Lacie sent me a replacement under warranty (luckily the data was backed up) but I have to be careful to set the second one on my desk at work just so, so the cable makes a good connection to the drive.
If you need a portable drive, the Seagate STBU1000100 1.0 TB is cheap, reliable, and the removable USB 3.0 interface makes for a handy bare-drive connector.
I have other (2 and 4 TB) drives of the same make and they also work great for extra storage and as TimeMachine drives.
The 4TB LaCie works fine for the first 8 backups on Mac's Time Machine and then it goes into hardware failure.
I bought the LaCie Rugged Mini USB 3.0 / 2TB External Hard Drive because of the overall ratings and great reviews
In February 2012, I purchased a Lacie rugged mini 1TB USB 3 external hard drive on Lacie's reputation for quality
I then ordered a replacement cord and then the drive itself started to make squeaking noises and then fail again
Then last night it is not recognized again and starts making these "squeak squeak clunk, squeak squeak clunk" noises for a few minutes followed by "click click click
The other nice thing is that it's very quiet, I haven't heard any weird noises or powering up or down sounds like I did on my WD drive
When I came back, the Hard drive was making weird noises and I noticed it was not recognized by my computer
The drive started making clicking noises and completely died within a couple of hours
I've lost hours and hours of work, and many files necessary for my job! :(
I've wasted about a half hour trying to figure out how to get that code, and still wasn't given a code after registering
Why should I have to waste an hour of my time on technical support to figure out why I can't simply drag a file to the trash and toss it or just "delete" it

Introducing the Smallest Member of the Rugged Family - with its iconic orange design and secure form factor, the Rugged has been one of our most popular hard drives
With the Rugged Mini, we've shrunk the Rugged, and added tons of new features, making it a solid investment for on-the-go data transport
The LaCie Rugged Mini Hard Disk shares features with our popular Rugged Hard Disk, like shock resistance, drop resistance, and a rubber sleeve for added protection
But with the Rugged Mini, we've gone a step further: it's also rain-resistant, and pressure-resistant-you can drive over it with a 1-ton car, and it still works! Its small size makes it perfect to take with you wherever you go, and its Rugged exterior provides protection against accidental drops, shock, or pressure.
