So I got the FZ1000 - with the hopes that the large sensor super zoom could give me good image quality and have a wide enough lens range so that I never felt bad about not having an interchangeable lens camera

At f/2.8 the image was noticeably blurry 1/8" on each side of the 1" mark

Shooting 2K video with a 4K camera yields some pretty sharp 2K images

The images are stunning and show how much development has been done on small sensors.

I wanted a point and shoot camera with great image quality and high zoom capability.

The Panoramic Mode works great and you can go from Left to Right, or Right to Left, or Up to Down, or Down to Up.

The camera has a silent mode and when turned on, the camera is totally silent when taking photos

Pictures were not sharp enough, very poor quality in low light

Looks like 4K is still on the way and you can not expect good quality video from low cost camera

The poorer build quality of the Panasonic is reflected in the price, so you get what you pay for

I can "zoom" in to 150% or so with very good quality video and sharpness.

It shoots a good quality 30fps 4k video, with good colors and it's possible to extract nice stills from it

I received a defective unit (zoom lens stopped working after an hour), and have had the replacement since December, 2015.

It took great pictures, but the auto focus wasn't always perfect, and it seemed like I always had the wrong lens on.

This new largie Panasonic is the jack-of-all-trades; lighter than a DSLR, very good zoom as in a few older compact super-zooms (like the HX9V--still own that one but is very slow), takes very good-excellent stills, excellent video quality even in low light, great performance, good/familiar plastic body quality (mainly why it is cheaper than Sony's RX10), good-not-great f2.8 aperture, and the ability to record great sound with internal microphones as well as external one

On the ends of my zoom range, the FZ1000 is softer and less forgiving of tricky lighting than my Canon lenses

The low light not bad but not good in today’s standards

Fourth, very very important, it's easier to take photos outdoors with your eye pressed against the viewfinder excluding extraneous light than it is with an LCD monitor, especially under bright sun

Yet should one wish to have the led video light and flash in the new combined model which costs less than buying them as separates for this model fz1000k camera , one may find themselves better off skipping the fz1000k and upping the camera model to the GH4 which allows use of the combined new DMW-FL580L

The only drawback I can see so far is like the manufacturer states; you will lose some focus with the higher zoom levels, as to be expected.

I so much complain about the a6000 having very poor macro and flash focusing accuracy with the motorized zoom lens

Your movies will have a whirring sound that is similar to the sound of a hard drive in your laptop . .

However, if SD card is not fully filled and you fill them fully to retain them as flash backup beyond that which you download to PC hard drive which can fail, you may wish to buy these overprices holsters as they provide rapid access without searching for bag that you don't need close by as your battery was fully

How many 6TB hard drives do you need to have a good video collection?

Bag should have storage areas for many extra SD cards, 2 extra batteries, and indelible ink to label filled SD cards if you store them instead of reusing (wise to store as flash technology is more stable than hard drives which can die at any time.

Overall I had a great time with this camera, but having stuck pixels a few weeks after warranty expired is a bit of a letdown and will probably keep me from buying another Panasonic camera.

The long lens is crisp through the mid sections of the zoom, suffering a bit in the corners with chromatic aberration at wide angle and full telephoto

Mainly using this camera to shoot kids and airplanes, I've had the following observations: - wish I had a little more telephoto reach, like 600mm - equally wish for slightly wider than 25mm, which is a bit cramped indoors (but that's where the LX7 comes in) - however, this combo of lens, sensor, and body is a trifecta for most uses - no problems getting my shots in any lighting condition short of black -- even the focus in low lighting is exceptionally fast and accurate - focus is crisp and this camera can catch the fast movements, but when I'm fully zoomed in, the sharpness falls off ever so slightly - I'm puzzled by why Pana left of the electronic ND filter, although i could go old-school and thread one on the end - the colors out of the camera seem spot on -- particularly impressive are the very natural redsThe high resolution, articulated, BIG LCD display is a huge improvement over the antique-looking FZ50's LCD, and very good even outdoors in bright daylight (though still tough to see when washed direct sunlight)

If you want to use it for sports, you will want to reserve closer to front-row seating, so that the limited zoom is not an issue, and you can get better image quality and close-ups in a much more compact body

Or for a lot more, the GH4 (but I now have serious concerns about Panasonic quality control), or even perhaps the Olympus OMD EM-1, but unfortunately that has very limited video capabilities.

You ARE limited to 30 minutes video in ALL modes & 5 axis image stabilization does NOT work in 4K mode

Movies, less so given the noise and limited filming time, limited battery life.
