Unbelievably difficult to try to use, the owners manual is impossible to understand and when I tried to call customer service at the number listed in the manual it was disconnected

The sound is crystal clear, easy to use, and light enough to put in your purse.
I'm very happy with that process, but after less than 30 days the sound on the unit stopped working
Can't get use to clear audio sound yet since always had radioshack

The audio sounds good and the battery life is getting me about ten hours .

Its features are somewhat limited, and construction of your favorites list will require further exploration and experimentation.
Second negative is the "Analyze" function does not work as it is described in the manual.

Seems to be a solid build, but very complicated to program.
I know this is a great product b/c several of my friends have them, with that being said, this unit has been very difficult to program and is not the user friendly item it claims be
Radio is well built and operates as described in the literature.
Very easy to program if using built in zip code frequencies

This is without a doubt, the most powerful handheld scanning receiver available from any manufacturer
The only problem I have with it is that the receiver is not very sensitive

I upgraded the antenna to a Watson 801 for even better reception
I found the Uniden BCD436HP digital Scanner to have excellent signal reception and scanning ability
Reception is poor for rural areas but I believe the antenna is poor quality
I guess the only other thing I don't like is the reception is somewhat tricky if your settings are off or you just aren't in a good place where signals can easily be
The reception with the stock SMS rubber antenna is better than good and picks up very little interference !

The free Sentinel software from Uniden makes it very easy to modify the programming.
It's slow to to pick up a frequency compared to my Uniden 125, and the software to program it, as well as the operation is cumbersome
There is a VERY STEEP learning curve for custom programming this scanner using Sentinel (free) software to get this unit custom programmed for only what I want to hear.
Download Uniden's incredibly lousy "Sentinel" software by googling a link to it on some ham forum or other obscure location.6
BUT Uniden makes free software for this called Sentinal which has a real good database with it

This thing is awesome especially if you just want to get up and running immediately.
this is a nice thing about the scanner I can just turn on the railroad channel and that's all I get
I love the scanner though and it is the coolest thing I have probably ever purchased
otherwise , you're not going to enjoy programming this thing by hand.

Either the plug or the port has become defective as every time I move it, it loses power.

I hope with a future release of this scanner Uniden will reconsider the battery charging as I think many users, based on the forums, find this to be a poor design given the cost of the scanner.
I also like the design of this scanner
It is very poorly designed with multiple functions for every button and knob and seriously becomes a pain in the @$$ to use
the more i use it the more it feels like it was designed to be barely sub par so they can sell more accessory upgrades for it

The major problem with this is that it will COMPLETELY corrupt the SD card and EVERY TIME, making the device UNUSABLE.Buyer beware on this one!
I just got done modifying my fav's list via Sentinel, I saved it, as best as I can tell, I eject the scanner from the drive, then the scanner tells me I have to format the SD card and lose all my work
I never even got to the first stage of entering the date- Seems like the flimsy Micro-CD card insert device would not read the card, possibly a bad connection
This is because Windows is so stupid, it will corrupt the SD card if you format it with anything other than SDFormatter.
But don't ever pull the USB cable out before you tell windows to eject this device or you'll corrupt the SD micro card inside the scanner.

Very steep learning curve, I highly recommend search the web for the "easier to read" version of the owners manual.
I would not recommend this scanner for someone just getting into the hobby, there is a learning curve involved.
This has a steeper learning curve than a lot of scanners if you want to get the most out of it, but out of the box you can start listening just by entering a zip code

It is located behind the batteries, the scanner keep stating SD read error - I figured out the problem
The first bug is related to this SD card corruption issue, the second possible bug relates to the backup battery for time, Uniden has a current update fix for this.
If I would have known "Missing bonus material" meant missing SD card, belt clip, software, documentation as well as being scuffed I wouldn't have bought the repackaged one.
