Very solid laptop, fantastic specs for the price (8th gen i7 edition)
This is an awesome laptop and it has by far the best specs for the money that available right now
It has great specs for the price, and when it works, I'm happy with it, but I can't recommend this product when I know I could have purchased any other $500-$600 laptop and customer service would have been much easier to deal with.
Loved this laptop, Great specs, awesome quality, everything I wanted in a laptop for my work from home business
I wrote a quick cmd file to issue the command "shutdown /s
I've been operating computers for a long time - nearly 25 years, so I'm somewhat dubious as to the bells and whistles that the manufacturers of a computer puts out.
Gaming with this is a breeze, high fps and great performance
For a mid-tier priced laptop the price was just right, and the performance is good too
Great battery life, awesome performance and even better price
Very fast ssd for a budget laptop, decent IPS screen, good battery life, and most importantly great performance
It's a lot of good for a comparatively cheap price.
No new technologies have rendered others obsolete or pushed prices down
The best laptop in that range was the 350 dollar little brother of this one, but to make it worth it, you had to upgrade the RAM and the hard drive, bumping the price up to around 550.I quickly found that most negative reviews of laptops are by people who have no
Also the price is amazing for this kind of laptop and parameters
Great battery life, awesome performance and even better price
If you're considering buying a good gaming laptop with a $1000.00 budget, I highly recommend this laptop.
Out of the box, this laptop does run quite hot while gaming
While the laptop on its own is a good machine, putting in some extra time and attention to tune it up will turn it into a great budget gaming laptop.

Not a replacement for a good gaming laptop but also quite a bit cheaper
I think I want to double the RAM may be even add some Optane memory and remove the DVD-RW and add a Terabyte hard-drive or another SSD for extra storage, but can this baby cope with all these adjustments
It needs an SSD hard drive, which I had never used until now
Very fast ssd for a budget laptop, decent IPS screen, good battery life, and most importantly great performance
I wrote a quick cmd file to issue the command "shutdown /s
Had to have a fast SSD instead of the traditional mechanical drive - 256GB M.2 drive included
While the laptop on its own is a good machine, putting in some extra time and attention to tune it up will turn it into a great budget gaming laptop.
So in essence it's a great machine, if you don't push it.
I don't think it's Acers fault as i see a lot of problems online with Windows 10 updates for version 1803 and i tried at least 5 fixes for this
I've been operating computers for a long time - nearly 25 years, so I'm somewhat dubious as to the bells and whistles that the manufacturers of a computer puts out.
The machine itself is relatively bulky, and battery life isn't great, but that's expected given the low price and large size
with the 128 GB solid state hard drive doing all the operating system.
I bought it partly because it had a solid state drive with no moving parts.
I wanted a laptop with a solid state drive so it would boot fast.
I actually get 30% off through my work on laptops and this was still a better deal considering it had the larger solid state hard drive and 15" 1080p HD screen
I took literally 5 minutes and dropped a 1T hard drive in the empty drive bay and someday, perhaps, I'll drop another 8 meg of RAM into the empty slot.
This laptop's construction is cheap and flimsy, the battery is NOT removable and the back case is nearly impossible to take off without damaging it
I've been operating computers for a long time - nearly 25 years, so I'm somewhat dubious as to the bells and whistles that the manufacturers of a computer puts out.
It works as smooth and fast as the day I bought it, and now I have loaded with apps and programs.
The perfect blend of old (DVD drive) and new (decent mobile GPU, SSD, USB C, and IPS
If this laptop was in a more rigid case, it may be worth the money.
Even after unscrewing the back case, it's held in place along each edge by several tiny hinges like a cheap plastic smartphone
Since the plastic around the screen is so cheap, there is little protection for your screen
Other than the drive, the bottom feels super plastic-y and cheap, and so does the optical drive.
So I took off 1 star for not having a feature that allows me to extend the time and another for Acer's inability to update their machines with this simple but useful feature, as well as for not making this limitation explicit in their documentation.
The on negative I would give it is the case, the top plastic is not rounded well on the edges where it joins the screen making it feel cheaply made.
I chose Acer because I have two of their monitors on my main rig that have been with me for 10 years now and going strong no dead pixels and look great
Great laptop with the exception of the two dead pixels it came with
I chose Acer because I have two of their monitors on my main rig that have been with me for 10 years now and going strong no dead pixels and look great
The only reason I'm not giving this laptop 5 stars is because the display on mine came with a dead/stuck pixel, which isn't covered under warranty
Not sure what problems people have saying its difficult to use (maybe older model?)
If the battery lasts longer then 2 hours it is a high probability the it is not the battery that is shutting laptop down; I see this all the time with people misdiagnose a problem
People would complain that the viewing angles get dark when viewed from the side
Maybe people who connect this computer with an Ethernet cable will have better success, but if you access the internet via Wi-Fi this is not the computer for you
Some people have complained about the brightness level, but I typically use my laptop at
So I took off 1 star for not having a feature that allows me to extend the time and another for Acer's inability to update their machines with this simple but useful feature, as well as for not making this limitation explicit in their documentation.
So finding out that this PC had noticeable fan noise right out of the box was disappointing
I did a Google search and fiddled with the chip's power management, which seems to help with reducing the fan noise, but also seems to reduce the computer's speed and power
Currently with all of the above running I'm hitting about 60C which isn't bad for a laptop.- Bloatware: there wasn't too much on it, but what was on it was really annoying to remove.- Fan noise: hasn't been a problem since I updated everything.- Battery discharging during sleep mode: doesn't seem to happen with me.
That eliminated the fan noise altogether, but seemed to cause significant performance lags
might have been a few phone calls and some frustration, something missed on the pre-programming of the BIOS?Hope this helped
Turned into and 35 minute game of hold and useless information, followed by hanging up the phone on me
