With the new 8200 I am getting consistent 125mb/s so its working amazing.

Recommended by my AV guy to speed up my WiFi, I installed it, gave the serial number and everything to Cox, wasn’t working, their tech support told me I needed to call Arris and have them switch it from 3.0 to 3.1

He insisted only one size ethernet connector existed, and there must be something wrong with my router (which had worked fine with a different modem for 2 years, and still does)

I had my ISP reinitialize my own modem to the system and everything is working just fine.

You need a router as well for this to work correctly unless you are using the wire to your computer.

sb8200 is better for those who require a fancy router to add to a modem but neither models support MU-

You can then determine if you can/need to eliminate the splitter or change it (because the issue may lie there) , put a signal amplifier in its place on the coax line in (if the line in snr is good until it hits the splitter) , buy a new router (because the modem speed is fine but the router is the issue) or do nothing because it's all good

Customer support also wasn't any more helpful than suggesting that we restore it to factory settings (which didn't help)

TLDR customer support gives me a 3 day run around and I end up sending the modem back.

Bad device and worse customer support.

I made sure it wasn’t the signal, and then called customer support.

It would have been 30 minutes but after I called, it lost signal

This Modem improved my signal throughout my house 2 fold

After finally getting it to work the modem constantly disconnected, over and over...causing me to think it was my poor ISP signal

The tech checked out all the cables and said the signal was good right up to the modem

Followed the recommendations and checked signal levels, everything looked good.

All this to have usable internet until my replacement comes?

Great Docsis 3.1 modem for upgrading to faster internet speed.

We were chasing an issue of intermittent internet drop outs

Internet suddenly is very slow and have network timeouts

After the upgrade, my normally stable internet speeds became very inconsistent.

Defective unresponsive product received that just kept power cycling no matter what with no troubleshooting capabilities

This is an indication on how this product is so reliable.

This product suffered from frequent disconnects and connectivity issues

This product doesn’t support WiFi and has only one cable port

This product worked to specifications and never had any issues.

I ended up purchasing a different Arris modem from Cox which is now working flawlessly.

After 3 Arris modems that have all failed I would not recommend Arris at all

Arris couldn’t tell me the issue, and didn’t help much in this case

It's my second Arris modem to die before the warranty is

Arris has plenty of workable cable modems for 50 mps service but this unit did not work.

A lot of people have lambasted this modem as having a poor chipset that causes major lag spikes

Because Intel released a buggy Puma chipset, and Arris (Motorola) released a crappy, over-priced, unstable modem - and has not gone to the trouble to either fix the Puma chipset, upgrade to a stable chipset, or even attempt a firmware fix

chip set .Arris doesn't make junk ( too sad the Puma 6 chipset may have some issues

Bought this modem as an upgrade from an older Arris model, attempted to activate it multiple times, was told by Spectrum that their backend system can not recognize the model number based on the given (correct, verified multiple times

I was not given the correct model and was told that i can not get the item replaced.

This model does not permit dimming the LEDs or turning them off.

Although it is listed on the Cox website as being "approved" it did not work well for me: the modem would lose sync 4 or 5 times per day and reset itself, bringing all Internet activity to a screeching halt each time

Today I had to hard reset due to the Port 1 ethernet PHY failing with lots of errors

Comcast couldn't find anything wrong, I troubleshooted the router and modem, hard reset, refresh DNS, etc

and they have not crashed where they require a hard reset after being in service for over a month
