Reviews around jack (5.00 of 5)

  • It was able to get the nice classic gilmouresc tones, the great alternative jack white kind of tone, and the great punky grunge tones from mudhoney and the smashing pumpkins
  • The 1/8" jack adapter is available for the Visual Sound One Spot, which I use, so it's not really a huge deal for me, but be aware that you're going to have to get an adapter (5 bucks or so) or use batteries, which I hate doing

Reviews around time (5.00 of 5)

  • I'm not sure I can get along with the noisyness between notes or during rests, this thing has no quiet time.
  • Anyone who claims otherwise hasn't spent enough time playing with settings not only on the pedal itself, but on the amp and the guitar
  • I can turn off all the others and have a great time

Reviews around effect (5.00 of 5)

  • There is now an LED Effect-Active indicator light, I like that a lot
  • I just wish YouTube had videos of people using effects pedals like this on drum machines, samplers, sequencers, etc

Reviews around sustain (3.91 of 5)

  • this pedal produces very good sustain, but has really bad attack.
  • I agree with other reviewers in that it will give you perfect tone for white stripes, and sustain that is necessary for solos from Gilmour (note that this is only one of many pedals used by gilmour, so this alone will not provide the floyd sound).
  • my brother's, where we rehearsal and I have my marshall amp, and it was a totally different story; the sound is great, huge sustain and a big low end, you have clarity within
  • The Big Muff has an amazing tone and sustain, it's the pedal I've been wanting for
  • Great sustain, tone and distortion, better than anything digital

Reviews around product (3.86 of 5)

  • but certainly the one he uses must be of a much more better quality product.
  • I am a happy Electro-Harmonix customer, and have no hesitation in recommending their products.
  • With the Big Muff though, I found that it really picks up the finer intricacies of my playing more than my cheap-o amp ever could

Reviews around thing (3.86 of 5)

  • I purchased one over 20 years ago and sent it back immediately, but now I really like this thing and keeping it my two Guitar hero's used this thing Jimi Hendrix and Ernie Isley
  • This thing is insane.
  • As I said, it does one thing very well, but its range even with classic rock is quite limited.

Reviews around power (3.80 of 5)

  • With the Big Muff though, I found that it really picks up the finer intricacies of my playing more than my cheap-o amp ever could
  • I’ve tried everything from changing the batter, the cables used, a new power supply and a good cleaning with alcohol/q-tips and even electronic spray cleaner to get in every crevasse
  • I recommend this pedal to anyone who wants beefy power chords, fuzzy Hendrix leads, and long sustain.

Reviews around fuzz (3.77 of 5)

  • If you plan to cover songs with that classic fuzz sound, this pedal gets you 100% of that sound.
  • Great Pedal great fuzz but unfortunetly it doesnt work well with a solid state amp so please get yourself a tube amp to enjoy the sound.
  • With the Companion, there's a nice, open and warm fuzz mode and a nasal/narrow mode that almost sounds like a synth
  • Great sounding fuzz/distortion
  • This pedal does exactly what my title suggests... it creates a huge walk of smooth rich fuzz... very smashing pumpkins feel to this

Reviews around noisy (3.44 of 5)

  • This is thy real fuzz ever, thick (this is very unsual in fuzz devices) and noisy (nothing's free), sounds great
  • With the Big Muff though, I found that it really picks up the finer intricacies of my playing more than my cheap-o amp ever could
  • A little noisy for a Fender Stratocaster, maybe would work much better in a humbucker-type guitar, but definitely sounds like it suppose to sound like

Reviews around muff (3.35 of 5)

  • The Big Muff is considered a classic, and while this re-issued one may sound off to
  • The vintage Big Muff is plenty loud
  • This is the classic big muff sound I was looking for, just make room!
  • The big Muff Pi outshines the rest by doing one thing, and doing it well
  • All things considered the Big Muff is a unique pedal and cheap enough for anyone to get one and mess with it

Reviews around rock (3.04 of 5)

  • If you are trying to sound just like some classic rock dude this may or may not work for you...
  • If you want to also cover other classic rock, you're gonna need at least one more overdrive/distortion effect.
  • The tone also matches 60's and 70's hard rock like black sabbath (iron man), some deep purple (smoke on the water), some early rush (working man), and of course the smashing pumpkins sound all the
  • You can sound close to a Hendrix tone, Jack White, and anything for classic rock 60's 70's
  • As I said, it does one thing very well, but its range even with classic rock is quite limited.

Reviews around version (2.94 of 5)

  • As far as modern versions of the Muff, I think this one is the best
  • With the Big Muff though, I found that it really picks up the finer intricacies of my playing more than my cheap-o amp ever could
  • Back when I purchased this pedal I'd read that this version of the pedal was redesigned by Fran Blanche (from Frantone pedals) back when she worked for EH.
  • You pretty much get the one sound with a Big Muff, which I'd describe as a weaker version of the former
  • Great pedal, although I prefer the black russian version over the newer nyc models.
