Reviews around build (4.57 of 5)

  • The stories of poor build quality of Joyo pedals is backed up by what I found - I have an American Sound pedal and this also has a DC power socket that is not central with the hole in the casing (plug can't be inserted)
  • Produces Vox AC30 like sounds, is very well built and has many many different tones that sound pretty darn good for such an inexpensive pedal
  • This pedal is great, it was inexpensive, sounds fantastic, is well built and the controls function like they are supposed too
  • That being said, it is well built and has a good bluesy overdrive sound
  • Its well built, sounds good and the price is unbeatable.

Reviews around boost (4.42 of 5)

  • it has nice tone dynamics going on inside of it , very nice as a clean boost and also a great overdrive
  • Gives nice sustain to both clean and dirty notes and when you bump up the volume knob on the pedal, you can use it as a clean boost
  • Works great as a clean boost or as straight up overdrive
  • My setup is a very simple one...starting with a Stratocaster to compressor, wah-wah, super-overdrive, boost pedal, delay, then straight into the front end of a tube amp with reverb & vibrato
  • Most "Marshall-in-a-box" stomps, imo, sound much tamer than a real Marshall, and they give you a "prettied-up", safer version of that sound, in order to appease the 15-year-old Children Of Boredom/Cannibal Corpse lame-o neo-hippies the scene is now infested with

Reviews around product (4.26 of 5)

  • Recommend to anyone who is interested in a good product with a good price.
  • I couldn't recommend anything else by Behringer though as the other products I've used made by them were crap.
  • good product , fast delivery, good seller, definitely recommend to a friend
  • Just save up for a used tube screamer this product is worthless
  • I wouldn't even give this one star if Amazon let me, I ordered this product twice in the last week and both times this pedal was broken when I took it out of the box

Reviews around price (4.11 of 5)

  • They make a great sounding durable pedal for a great price
  • Great pedal, just what I was looking for at a great price
  • This is a a great phase pedal, great tone and a great price.
  • This thing not only sounds great for its extremely cheap price, but is extremely durable.
  • The price of Joyo pedals is so much less expensive that competing products, so if you are looking for a cheap overdrive, this is it

Reviews around amp (4.09 of 5)

  • The amp also sounded brash to me, the opposite of the Bassman
  • I had been looking at this pedal for awhile as a cheap solution to try improving the sounds that come out of my cheap Behringer solid state amp
  • if you only have a clean amp and want a distortion sound it is good
  • It has a lot more high end available and can turn the muddiest amp into a tight mid-range heavy metal monster
  • It also seems to have a good drive sound on a clean amp.

Reviews around knob (4.08 of 5)

  • Gives nice sustain to both clean and dirty notes and when you bump up the volume knob on the pedal, you can use it as a clean boost
  • I took one star off because the knobs are incredibly flimsy and will lose place at the slightest disturbance
  • The pedal feels solidly built, knobs are nice, the bypass button has a nice tactile feel to it and a nice clicking sound
  • and WHAT A PEDAL.This thing sounds amazing...it is solid metal construction with a nice sturdy switch and knobs.
  • It is a solid aluminum casing and the knobs and switch seem to be of good quality.

Reviews around overdrive (4.03 of 5)

  • The joyo is pretty dam close, it seems a bit noisy, but in my experience most overdrive and/or distortions are
  • I used this pedal as a boost for the Joyo Classic Overdrive
  • Not at all a neutral pedal as it definitely affects the tone, but it's a great overdrive.
  • It looks better than my Vintage Overdrive (again, great pedal).
  • I employ this pedal more than my boss distortions and my electro harmonix distortions/overdrives.

Reviews around quality (3.99 of 5)

  • Just didn't work out for me due to the quality control and my lack of interest to get another one.
  • From what I've read in the reviews, my experience isn't uncommon, so I do feel it's fair to rate the product poorly because of bad quality control.
  • The patch cable that came with the pedal works very well and is of good quality.
  • This is a high quality great sounding pedal and well worth the low price.
  • I will probably be buying more of this same pedal for several delay options price is right and quality is good

Reviews around distortion (3.70 of 5)

  • If you're looking for your first cheap distortion pedal, forget the Boss DS-1 and get this one!
  • this pedal has a great distortion tone, and would be good as a stand alone distortion, if not a tube-ifyer
  • This pedal is not a hard core distortion but even with the gain rolled all the way off it still adds a good amount of break up to a clean channel with guitar volume up all the way and medium to hard picking
  • The distortion is very weak and the controls are limited
  • I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend this to anyone considering a cheap distortion pedal

Reviews around analog replacement delay (3.65 of 5)

  • I get this effect with both my Marshall tube amp as well as with a rack mounted preamp
  • At first I was confused as to why it sounded horrible but got such great reviews
  • Replacement Analog Delay - didn't work at all out of the box

Reviews around thing (3.61 of 5)

  • The thing sounds great with a tube amp, and offers an array of sounds that can be heard just by tweaking the pedal
  • - I'm not sure how this thing is available at the price it is.
  • This isn't necessarily a bad thing, and it's certainly better than having no headroom to set the pedal louder (a frequent criticism of the BOSS DS-1), but it's something to be aware of
  • Maybe I was lucky but this thing is great for the price.
  • The great thing about the JOYO pedals is you can buy 4-6 for the same price of one boutique pedal

Reviews around compressor (3.60 of 5)

  • Just as good as other compressor pedals that cost three times as much!
  • It's a great pedal - subtle, low-noise compressor suitable for electric guitar or bass
  • Good compressor at a fraction of the cost of its competitors
  • Great compressor for the money, it doesn't have a much control as a 100.00 plus pedal would probably have but sounds great
  • I'm not familiar with more expensive compressors and how they might be noticeably better, but this one sounds exactly how I would expect a compressor to work.

Reviews around pick attack (2.61 of 5)

  • (as you turn it clock wise) - I like it for adding charcater/punch to my live
  • I bought this overdrive for my brother's H&K Tubemeister 18 which he just hated with a passion because it didn't have enough gain
  • At first I was confused as to why it sounded horrible but got such great reviews

Reviews around battery (2.57 of 5)

  • PriceRangeSoundCons:9V Battery only, it would be nice if you could plug it in, otherwise you must be conscientious of your battery useOverall great product so far, well worth the price, and a lot of fun, I will be purchasing one for myself!
  • At this extremely affordable price it's hard to pass by such a great petal billed as an OCD clone this pedal does not sound quite as good as the Fulltone petal but is extremely usable and excellent sounding t in my opinion
  • " Definitely not plastic EXCEPT for the chintzy battery compartment cover
  • If you leave the input cable plugged in, it WILL consume power and it will run the battery dead in just 2 days
  • I only found that out after replacing the dead battery that it comes with, and plugging in to a power supply (not provided with unit).

Reviews around footswitch (1.99 of 5)

  • Battery or 9v power, footswitch is a nice click that is easy to feel, design is cheesy but not overly cheesy
  • At this extremely affordable price it's hard to pass by such a great petal billed as an OCD clone this pedal does not sound quite as good as the Fulltone petal but is extremely usable and excellent sounding t in my opinion
  • It's also built pretty solidly, with a nice thick metal box and footswitch
  • Footswitch is nice and solid and feels like your standard boutique true bypass switch.

Reviews around problem (1.95 of 5)

  • My only problem, and the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars, is the foot switch didn't work out of the box
  • It's not "built like a tank", but no flimsy plastic crap like the brand that starts with a B, which fishes in the same pond, price-wise
  • I don't know it the tech 21 has the same hissing problem or not.
  • Not a strong sounding phase- a and b with behrenger vintage phase, I much prefer sound of behringer, but hate huge size on pedalboard.
  • That problem's now been remedied with a new pedal power adapter, and the Joyo chorus effect is indeed a joy.

  • It's not "built like a tank", but no flimsy plastic crap like the brand that starts with a B, which fishes in the same pond, price-wise
  • FWIW, I've found that cheap Behringer comps (rack mount) work well however, I never tried one on guitar
  • I had been looking at this pedal for awhile as a cheap solution to try improving the sounds that come out of my cheap Behringer solid state amp

Reviews around mind (1.80 of 5)

  • It fattens the sound up, and increases sustain, but your mind will not be blown at all with it
  • and with a friend who play drums like JOJO Mayer, we can blow your mind about conventions!YES, THIS PEDAL IS PERFECTION!
  • It always blows my mind when players who have no idea what a compressor does leave bad reviews because they can't hear a change in tone
  • (as you turn it clock wise) - I like it for adding charcater/punch to my live
  • No one in their right mind would buy so much as a toothpick from this seller.

Reviews around monkey (1.65 of 5)

  • Started cheap with a Digitech Bad Monkey and then spendy with a Maxon Od808
  • and I wanted something to stack with my Bad Monkey, which would have a little more drive.
  • If you want a more modern or thrashy sound, I think the Digitech Bad monkey does that better
  • The Bad Monkey is good with solid state amps and the Maxon is nothing short of a let down

Reviews around wire (1.61 of 5)

  • and I don't think they would hold up to much use over time but mine will be hard wired on a pedal board.
  • (as you turn it clock wise) - I like it for adding charcater/punch to my live
  • Loose wires and bad components were everywhere on the board
  • As cheap as it is even 2 are cheaper than buying what it was copied from....the jacks are super cheap as is the switch and the wiring is not so hot, but for the price you cant really beat it...
  • Problem with mine was it would cut in and out kinda like a loose wire to a car speaker if that makes sense

Reviews around hiss (1.25 of 5)

  • Construction is first rate and there is absolutly no hum, hiss, loss of signal, nor any excessive coloring of your signal
  • Otherwise you end up compressing the processed signal, including any extra hiss or noise the other pedals make.
  • Bad: Adds a little noise & hiss specially to single coils (strats & teles).
  • It really is unusable creates a horrible hiss and feedbacks so bad I couldn't even play
  • This delay was quite " no extra hiss" and sounded very good to my ears with just enough repeats to go into ocolation, if I want, and plenty of time option to play with
