but the picture quality is amazing to us; we recently upgraded from a CRT from the late 90's since we got a GREAT deal on the HDTV).
I compare my Netflix experience with this player to my experience with the Roku player (which of course, doesn't play Blu Rays, LOL) and navigation here is not quite as good as with the Roku
$130 for built-in wifi and HDMI cable included is just an outrageously good deal

I am convinced there is NO BETTER BLU-RAY DEAL ON THE PLANET.
Other than that, this device is a great way to reduce your monthly cable bill and pays for itself in a few months!

There are many screens on the app that allow you to work all the controls on the player.
I would have loved a remote control the size of other Sony dvd remotes (small enough to be compact, big enough not to get lost!).Anyway, this player is a GREAT starter and good as a secondary device.

The large issue with this unit is the same for ALL SONY Blu-Rays accessing Netflix, the premier streaming service
A great Blu-Ray player with excellent WiFi media streaming
I initially set it up with wireless g router and was having issues with it ( same router was streaming netflix fine with insignia blu ray player )
We just had to start the DVD player, go into easy setup, select auto, get the code, go online to the sony website in the instructions, put in the code leave both screens up, and there you go
It streams fine, no buffering issues and the setup was super easy
Setup is a pain, but if you have done it once it's easy
Very easy setup, connects to my wireless internet with no issues, and I can enjoy everything from playing blu-rays, to listening to Pandora, to "renting" movies from Amazon Video-on-Demand and Netflix via the internet.
It starts up in the Easy Setup menu, you make your preference selections, enter your wireless password and that's it
We love the connectivity and to be honest we haven't even watched a DVD or Blu-Ray on it because we have enjoyed the wireless capability and all the features that accompany that so much

Sleek design looks great, and the remote works on my Sony Bravia TV as well, with no set up.
That Vizio machine has far fewer internet services to choose from, the Stop and Pause buttons take 30 seconds to work sometimes, and it loses closed captioning every time a button is pushed on the remote, but at least the internet streaming WORKS without constant freezing
I know some others complained, but everything's working well with me.

I finally bought a new router (Belkin Dual Band 802.11n) to replace my old 802.11g router and that solved both the X-Box Live issues and the Netflix issue

i was excited to use this to hook my hard drive up to it
Both those units use onboard processors and ram with up to 250gb hard drives while the Sony BX57 has none of this with only a 1gb onboard memory
The USB drive can play m4v videos from a thumb drive or external hard drive.
I've had a few blu-ray players before and while this one is very good at blu-ray playback, if you want to stream stuff off your media server or expect it to play good video off a hard drive, look elsewhere.
