There are so many better options for home security out there now

Even the paid plans were cheaper initially making it a better option on the market than many home security systems

This camera system was a great home security option until they decided to bait and switch all of their customers

This is a terrible option

I love the security that I have with canary at home and away from home .

So, I advice you to look elsewhere for another brand of cloud security camera, as now Canary devices are just overpriced simple web cameras, and if you want "all the features", then you can pay their monthly fees.

Like most of the cloud security cameras, there is no onboard hard copy recording

Still a few GeoFence bugs occationally, but better than having those big expensive clunky security systems.

If you want a constant stream of false alarm notifications on your phone OR if you want a security camera that completely misses most action (how did it not see me pulling out of my garage when my car needs to drive COMPLETELY ACROSS THE FIELD OF VIEW?!?!

I bought some of the first ones when they rolled them out and they haven’t worked as designed for a single day

I also like the industrial design of this camera more than the other cameras

Overall, the design is nice and the setup was very easy

Love the sleek design and the camera quality is certainly worth the price

This is by far the best security system I have ever used

A little annoying that you have to pay to use the voice feature but nonetheless a good system for the price

I cannot in good faith recommend this system to anyone unless you are willing to pay the membership fees for it, which orginally wasn't a requirement and was the premise that it was sold to myself with

We were able to use the video from Canary to prosecute a corrupt caregiver.

The Canary records a decent video, good enough for the police I would think.

Canary through its app updates now limits your videos to short little 15 second video clips of any detected motion instead of recording the entire event

Many promises of adding new features to the free service, just to be denied any of the promises unless you subscribe to the monthly service of $9.99 per month per camera.

All this went from being free features to paid features, overnight.

, Canary has taken away features once free and made them only available to paying customers.

A few weeks ago, Canary decided to revoke all of it's previously free features

Bought this because it was a great camera with great features.

So for almost two weeks I had a useless $150 Canary doing nothing at my house

The biggest problem with what Canary did is the dishonesty and bait and switch scheme

Loved Canary when I bought it years ago and love it even more now.

Love the canary all in one and the flex great picture works great for the Lake House

Bought the Canary about a year ago after someone broke into my house

What was promised to be free now is a service that Canary charges for

What kills it though is the proactively bad customer service

I bought this product because of the features for the free service

I paid a lot more for the same hardware originally and now they have made the device and app useless unless you pay for a membership.

But then i went on a trip out of the state and discovered unacceptable activity by my house/dog sitter

I can monitor any unusual activity in my home while I'm away

We have been able to monitor our home when we have been away and called the local police department when it detected movement when we saw unusually activity.

If there is ever trouble or suspicious activity we can sound a siren to scare off any unwelcome intruders.

Throw away $600 worth of cameras and buy a new system, or pay Canary’s “ransom” so these things actually work and record again.

That is a poor business practice and terrible customer service.

I absolutely love my Canary(s) and I couldn't be happier with the product.

This is the worst business practice from a company that I've ever been on the receiving end of.

I will not be buying additional Canary cameras, they have lost my business.

I have 4 Arlo's on the outside of my house, and a fancy no-use paperweight (to quote another reviewer) inside my house.

However, all of its features have been ripped away and it is a very expensive paperweight

Aside from this, the camera has a pretty sizable lag between event notification, "live" viewing, and the ever changing interface and features make this a less than desirable paperweight at this point

Canary pulled a completely unethical bait and switch move on all their former customers by taking all usability from the camera/app unless you pay a membership fee

I’ve seen a lot of the recent negative reviews due to Canary’s recent change of what’s offered for

Canary used to be great when they provided a free 24 hour review of full length videos, allowed videos to be downloaded, recorded while you were home, and recorded at night when you slept

I probably got a bum one based on the better reviews on here, but I'm stuck with it.

The reason we went with this brand is because of the great reviews they got and the awesome free plan they offered

The company that sells this device has breached its promise to its customers.

I was thinking of investing in the smaller cameras but since the free services have been taken away and customer service has no phone number you can call, just a text message, I decided against it.

They have no phone number to call on their website and say they no longer have phone support.

It sudden went offline and tech support is horrible - no phone number so you have to email or text and very limited hours for tech

They refuse to update the firmware and give the buyers and opportunity to disable the lights or not

Canary changed how the products works starting in October of 2017, but new buyers get a working product for a few months, and then they too will lose the functionality of their product unless they pay extra

Canary have successfully removed the security and convenience features that enticed many buyers in the beginning

They promised buyers a firmware update would provide two way talk, and then added it as an upgrade requiring a paid membership

Buy any other camera other than canary, these guys will rip you off for a camera that is not worth more than $50.

Also, a bad guy can use a wifi jammer, available for about 5 bucks, to disable your cameras

I haven't caught any bad guys yet, and I hope I never do, but I have piece of mind knowing if someone attempts unwanted entry into my home, I will know immediately and will be able to thwart any wrongdoing

If the bad guys do find your recorder and steal it, you will always have video saved to each individual camera on the SD cards
