Great product easy to use but can screw down to advanced options

Not sure why, but perhaps this was a one-off, as multiple people seem to enjoy this product

Slick product, the firmware config is about a four step process, which is on par with all the other manufacturers.

Product has good online support and the operating system is included in mainline OpenWRT.

Interesting product but would be untrustworthy for the western world.

Overall this is a great travel router very versatile and includes Open-WRT for those that want to access more advanced configuration options.

This firmware is VERY powerful and customizable (If you know what you are doing!).

The current OpenWRT software build does not have advanced capabilities like OpenVPN (a future feature according to latest firmware), but it has a very intuitive Web GUI

Worked great out of the box, firmware update feature worked great, lan port worked well

Very good value used to expand number of connections to my cellular hot spot past 10.

Unfortunately, it only connected to the Internet one time during the two plus hours I worked with it

has a hard time providing the login portal page for many locations (e.g. coffee shops, hotels)

Have used multiple times when no wireless in conference rooms as well.

If that is the reason for a negative review then please don't waste my reading time

2nd time around it worked like a charm and I uploaded the PIA OpenVPN files (zipped up) over wifi and within 10 seconds I was up and running!

It's not very user friendly.

It took me a few tries to set up, but I'm "tech challenged", so a few tries means it's pretty user friendly!

It's compact and very much user friendly & allows you to install a resident VPN service into the router.

Don't let that intimidate you though, there's a very easy and quick user interface which runs on top of the the usual LuCI (which is also accessible if you want it)

I am using mine as a WDS repeater in my garage for a better signal to my music streaming unit

Signal is great and be upgraded with external antennas if I need more distance.

The signal was strong enough to go through the thick block wall into the next classroom

I was in a hotel that had a weak wireless signal and was unable to connect

In my learning curve, I discovered there is so much this router is capable of (really any router with OpenWRT installed), but having the GL.iNet interface was extremely helpful in the final configuration of the EasyTether software.

I don't like their user interface, but they include a link to openwrt's Luci in it named "advanced settings".

Was alright while it worked, I wish the interface was a bit more intuitive and it is unpredictable when Wi-Fi is actually up, usually takes up to 1.5 mins after device turned on.

The fact that they use straight up open source OpenWRT as the firmware.... have thought through putting together a wonderful interface, and the VPN is dead-simple.... makes this company one to keep an eye on.

We had even gone as far as taking bids on having hard wired cameras installed and the prices were outrageous to say the least

Solid offering, great price, excellent vendor library support, native OpenWRT binaries specifically for this device.

Once whatever update it was that did it, the thing was unable to connect to Tor

But you can also do some very impressive things with this router and with great range and performance.

You really do need a degree in networking in order to understand this stupid thing

Main thing is that it works, it's simple and light, and very affordable

Simple GUI menu for casual users, but also packed with useful features for tech nerds like me.

It did not have a LAN port for my wired-only PC and it lacked any security features whatsoever

I use this router for a purpose that, admittedly, does not even BEGIN to utilize the available features.

Unfortunately this feature doesn't work on the -V2 with FW 2.26 or 2.261.

OpenVPN setup was so simple; click the vpn tab, drag and drop my ovn file that I had pre-downloaded from my provider, then click apply

(I use it with CyberGhost for personal VPN) and I like having an external VPN on/off switch

I use it as mobile VPN (OVPN - PIA) connection, works perfect.

Use this as a VPN Network and works perfectly, great device.

How is this not considered false advertising?

Even tried hard-resetting and "goodlife" still did not work

had to press the reset button that broke immediately, had to use the unsecured wifi at the hotel, beating the entire purpose of buying this device.
