HooToo Wireless Travel Router, USB Port, High Performance- TripMate Nano (Not a Hotspot)
The TripMate is the only mullti-use gadget you need when traveling, and complements your active tech lifestyle. As a portable device, the small size hides three very different but very powerful features. Whether that means charging your mobile phone ...
I saw this device, TripMate Nano and decided to give it a try and the price was great
I intend to do a return on this and order the higher end model, while I don't need the built in battery I do need the ability to extend my wifi range though I feel at a steep price.
Surprised at how compact this is - and these days it's a great price
Well packaged and great price but product was not easy to use as I thought
Now I have to return it and find a different solution.----------------------------Update: I am changing my feedback to 5 stars because of their excellent customer service
After beating my head against the wall, I contacted customer service desperate for a quick fix before leaving on my trip in the morning.
Because of their excellent customer service I would buy from them again and would recommend them.
the company just contacted me to offer a replacement, Fantastic customer service
so no one even knows it's there and those who use t-mobile but suffer from bad reception(I work in an industrial area) we can now benefit from WiFi calling.
The app that accompanies the HooToo is pretty easy to work with and the setup was not difficult
A little pricey but in terms of what you can do, this is a very cheap setup.
Use this everyday on my work PC, the setup is a little confusing however the little router is so compact its perfect for travelling or use in a hotel etc
Setup is easy, even for someone who's not a huge expert.
What's bugging me so far?I have the HooToo setup to connect to my wi-fi and offer it's own network (SSID) for privacy
Used it as an Access Point to get wireless service where the only network connection available was a wired Ethernet
This little piece of technology has significantly reduced the stress of connecting to a faulty network!
After troubleshooting, found that the unit does not tolerate a network that has intermittent slow downs
the three stars are for the great price the minus two is for the short range the network works, slow speed, and that it doesn't support all types of file to stream off a connected hard drive.
As a comment, wireless network at the hotel is always slow, this little router gives the option to increase the speed around 5 times!
Seriously... if you travel and need or want wifi, this thing is sweet
Very very very slow like 56k slow, every thing times out.
The one negative thing I can say about it is that the speed seems to be cut down to about a third as oppossed to connecting directly to my WiFi router; but this was expected.
This thing is great to connect all your devices to wired connection in a hotel
The only thing that did fix the problem was to go through the wizard again.
The Samba and DLNA servers are visible on BOTH the incoming connection as well as on the wifi network the HooToo generates
Another reason for 1 star off is the lack of instructions.
The reason this was needed was because some hotels will limit the amount of devices you can connect to their Wi-Fi (either free or paid)
Kind of disappointing as that is why I bought this gadget was for that function
It does take some configuration via the web interface, but that's painless as long as you remember to set the slide switch for wired or wireless (for the internet connection you want the device to use).
Other than the crappy first party apps and a lack of third party app support, I love this HooToo
This little device, about the size of a saltine cracker, allows us to talk via skype as clear as if he were right here at home.

However, and this may be where my lack of knowledge is a problem, I truly don't understand how you can advertise as having LAN features without a single LAN port.

I wasted my one day off this week on this piece of junk, extremely disappointed, returned, I wish you could give negative stars...
Small, portable (runs off usb), and works exactly as they say - and at current price, very affordable! Can use as Access Point (connect directly to it's router), or,as client (connect to your local lan via address, eg
the Android app for accessing the storage system seems very suspicious in regard of the requirements for installation (phone calls, storage and etc.)over all it worth the 5 stars
Loses one star because the interface and instructions are confusing.

iUI is clunkiy and the documentation is poor but these are minor irritations if you are fairly technical
The lack of good support and documentation is a killer here.
The documentation is on slick paper, but otherwise not very good

The initial documentation with the device is inadequate and I find this very hard to connect with when I am in a hotel which is the primary reason I bought it
I expect this to be a great solution for slow wireless in hotels.
The transfer speed may not be great (< 2 MB/s) but should solve the purpose
Transmits the videos on my hard drive to my smart tv via DLNA and recently i moved to a new place where my wireless has not been strong enough for the laptop in my room and its been acting as a great wifi repeater
The wireless is too slow and I was hoping the wired would be faster
I tested this as a "Bridge" - so that I could bridge between unsecure wireless, like a hotel, to this device
It lets me bypass the number of device limit that many hotels have which works great when traveling with my family
The reason this was needed was because some hotels will limit the amount of devices you can connect to their Wi-Fi (either free or paid)
I would recomended to anyone that travels and as it will help with those weak hotel wifi signals
However the huge limitation is that it doesn't support secondary authentication like most hotels seem to run anymore where you must go to a webpage and either login or accept the terms of use.
This thing has been awesome for it, it has also solved the problem of crappy hotel WiFi.
My external hard drive (1.5TB, 2.5”) works flawlessly with the HooToo, The routing, firewall and port forwarding configuration options are not the most robust I've seen, but the file sharing and wireless bridging functionality make up for this, especially at this price.
It works really well with a 1TB hard drive, I use it with my Galaxy Tab S to transfer large using the hootoo tripmate app
I'm using it as "wired" to connect up to a 2TB drive that I have secured in a 700 lb. safe
At home, i linked it with my 2T portable hard disk
I am abke to hook my 2 TB hard drive to it and use it as a wireless hard drive
But if you are going through manual setup, the check button for "Wired Access" will not response at all if the hard button is at "wireless" (or vice versa)
At home, i linked it with my 2T portable hard disk
Such a notice would give a clue of the real status of the device, and hint the user to switch the hard button on the device in order to receive Internet from an Ethernet cable (or vice versa), instead of trying futilely in the user settings program),Or, at the minimum, they could just grey out the selections which are rendered ineffective by the current hard button switch position, so at least experienced users would have guessed what is going on, and would not be actively misled into struggles of attempting various useless configurations
At home, i linked it with my 2T portable hard disk
so no one even knows it's there and those who use t-mobile but suffer from bad reception(I work in an industrial area) we can now benefit from WiFi calling.
When a real person answered within a couple rings without having to go through a bunch of automated nonsense or waiting times, I initially assumed I had called the wrong number and hung up.
We routinely stay places that limit the number of wifi internet connections to 4 or 5.
GREAT for on the road when you want to connect multiple devices to WIFI, but don't want any snoops (or the hotel limits the number of accesses)
