This Tenda WiFi router is an outstanding value and easily outperforms WiFi routers costing substantially more
But who cares because this just sits on the shelf.if you want a solid option with super easy set up and a great value in price, then this is a good option
As an AP you really notice it only has 3 Ethernet ports as you will lose one, but if you have a switch that is not a problem.
However, at this price point, the speed this router provides is a good value
Considering the low cost, the ease of installation, dual bands, and consistency of running, this router is a great value
This was easy to install had a very nice interface with all the options.
I don’t like the AC18 standard Setup interface because I like the detail of Tomato, but the dumb-ed down stock setup will work well for just about everybody
The set up was very nice, and the interface is intuitive
This router sets up easily, and has a nice, intuitive interface for management.

Internet speed is incredibly fast, no more drops, and setup was very easy.
no speed lost from the upgrade, setup was a pain in the butt, didnt connect dynamically, and static connection didnt work prperly but then dynamicllay worked after 5 hours of being a pain in the butt,
Setup was easy, however I am using the router in my home office and my messaging
Setup would not get off the login screen, so I messed around with router and read the website for over two hours trying to figure out how
Setup is a little confusing.. if u have a comcast service, connect to your modem via network cable, put the network cable in the wan slot of this router, on the online setup choose static ip and let it search.. good to go after that...
Excellent signal and features, compare to much more pricey devices
I like how clean looking the device isI dont like how one of the antenna was so lose it would not stay in place, but I suspect that was a fluke - the other one is perfect!I like the user interface - very good.
If a 300$ device pooped, I couldn't be more disappointed if the Tenda didn't live up to my expectations/needs.
Out of the box, it looked and felt like a nice quality device

Using a Wifi analyzer app seems to confirm that the router did a good job of auto-picking uncrowded bands in our EM-Wave filled apartment complex
My friend recommended this router to me as he mentioned it is working very well for him, so I decided to give it a shot
It is a very clean and well laid-out interface, and makes setting up and customizing the router very intuitive and easy
I had been worried that Apple's departure from wifi hub manufacturing would result in a decline in overall capabilities, but I'm very pleased with this offering from Tenda as well as with the remarkable user interface offered within the firmware, far more than I'm used to in the Airport system.
I use it at a student apartment complex that requires individual MAC registration for each device on their Wifi or Ethernet

A router that can make or break in reputation by means of weak streaming and uneven balance in bandwidth distribution
I'm giving two stars for the interface and because a household that only streams won't notice the problem, so it could be usable for someone
(After this was finally connected, I watched a few YT videos where several guys had the same problem, so I didn't feel as bad).I stream shows via PlayOn, Netflix, and Amazon Prime videos to 3 Roku's, as well as using 2 computers, 2 tablets, a Denon HEOS system and a MagicJack Plus

The router insisted I had a static IP address (which I don't) and there was no way to override it
I use it for WI-FI only (as an AP, disabled DHCP and use a static LAN IP address )and it is fantastic.
It is a very clean and well laid-out interface, and makes setting up and customizing the router very intuitive and easy
I know Tenda is monitoring the reviews, I hope you guys will update the firmware to support open vpn and also remove the meaningless restrictions on VPN account user name and password.
Then I found a very stupid restriction On the user name and password for the VPN account (which is none of Tenda's business), it is restricted to alphanumeric and underscore
I like how clean looking the device isI dont like how one of the antenna was so lose it would not stay in place, but I suspect that was a fluke - the other one is perfect!I like the user interface - very good.
The "@" in the email violated the restriction that means I can't set up the VPN with the latest Tenda firmware

I thought the performance would have blasted past my previous router, but turned out to be glitchy, then it crashed my external hard drive to the point where I may not ever recover my information (photos, music).
I have tried using the USB port with an external hard drive for document sharing, and it simply does not work, neither does the DLNA feature to serve media
Kind of like driving in the city versus on the highway
The USB 3 port is good for hard drives and printers

During set up, the wizard would recommend static IP set-up even though my modem uses DHCP.
From there I set up a static IP and tried to set it up as an AP
On my computer, it kept saying tenda recommends a static ip or something.
This one was pretty easy to install, though it took a long time to actually connect to my internet and tried to convince me that I use a static IP versus a dynamic IP
The Tenda AC9 has all the basic to advanced features you'd expect from a modern router including guest networks, blacklisting , Static & dynamic IP's, USB & Printer sharing, adjustable transmit power levels , AP and repeater modes etc all in a very clean and simple to use UI
Keep in mind the router is operating wirelessly in bridge mode and not hard wired into the
Still working fine with at least 7 wireless devices daily connected to it and 1 wired.
I bought this because it has WiFi WDS bridge mode, so I could use it to extend a WiFi connection to two hard-wired ethernet devices.
I was always hard wired to my router before so my old router was really only for my phone and my laptop that I rarely used.
So we installed this and set it up so that the WiFi comes on a little bit before opening and shuts off soon after closing (his equipment is hard wired so his internet won't go away if he's there early or late). As a side note, there are only 3 hardwire LAN ports on this router
I could quibble a bit about the way the antennas are attached and lack flexibility, and the lack of a wall mount option, but those are minor nits
I like how clean looking the device isI dont like how one of the antenna was so lose it would not stay in place, but I suspect that was a fluke - the other one is perfect!I like the user interface - very good.
I do not have a computer at my router location and am a bit lazy to move one there
The minuses are also not too surprising - the setup is not as intuitive or simple as it could be and the tech support leaves quite a bit to be desired.
Check the signal strengths as the 5GHz signal was a bit weaker than the 2.4 GHz
