My TRENDnet TEW-818DRU router works like a champ, and was a good value for the money.

But the router does function well, and for the money, it's a good value.

I called tech support and was pleased with the service.

There is both an easy user friendly interface for setting up the router with custom passwords and SSID's, as well as an advanced setup tab for the more complex seeming features such as the QoS, etc

I like the feature to setup a guest network yet restrict access as you choose

I tried using the original firmware provided by Trendnet, but the feature is so limited.

The Trendnet unit doesn't give me greater coverage and in many cases the speeds are slower than I registered on my TW unit.

However when this router is working: the range is generally good and the speed also.

the Wifi on this router handles them all perfectly with good speed, and with great range in an 1100 sq foot home with a basement

When in the same room as the router the speed is amazing and it will connect to the 5ghz band.

but if you get more than 20 feet from the router the speeds break down dramatically.

I bought this to replace a Linksys router which had ran for 3 years but had some connectivity issues (needed frequent restarts) for last year or so

I would prefer to have our money refunded as I don’t have much faith that the replacement router will work any better than the first one we had.

This router DROPS the internet side of the route all the time, and when you restart it, it loses ALL of the settings and reverts to factory

I have a Time Warner Cable box and this router works well and it actually made my internet speed faster

If I set the portable unit up with a static ip address and manually entered the ip address it would work

I had to set the routers ip as static and clone a Mac address and set up my modem to have cascading router and subnetwork
