Reviews around coverage (4.64 of 5)

  • At some point I may add another to make it a mesh system for better coverage outside the house.
  • The Netgear router I had before this one had better coverage
  • Coverage was spotty and eventually we noticed that our devices were connecting to the bedroom RT-
  • I was hoping this would boost coverage, but it is a no go.
  • I bought this not only for gaming but also to improve wifi coverage in my home.

Reviews around game boost (4.49 of 5)

  • If you enable game boost and QOS every few minutes the router basically locks up and eventually reboots repeadidly
  • Enabling any of the router features such as QoS, Game Boost, VPN, Firewall, etc, causes the router to lock up
  • APP、Lyra APP、AiCloud、AiDisk), AiProtection, Traffic analyzer, Apps analyzer, Adaptive QoS, Game Boost and Web history
  • We have slow internet (8Mb/s)
  • IPS, Game Boost, QOS and GPN (WTFast) are all in their default disabled state

Reviews around tech support (4.32 of 5)

  • I called tech support (asus) and we back dated the firmware and it worked for about an hour
  • We have slow internet (8Mb/s)
  • Tech support are pretty good and better than other companies but not perfect.

Reviews around feature (4.26 of 5)

  • Game BoostThe main feature of this router simply doesn't work
  • So many features, STRONG WiFi signal, great for wired gaming as well adding no latency
  • Gaming/Performance - I really love the gaming features of this router
  • Great wifi router quick data transfer with great features
  • The features on this product and the user interface are amazing

Reviews around money (4.26 of 5)

  • Not worth the money.
  • Well worth the extra money for all the options this router gives you.
  • Dont waste your money on this router, for the price the last thing you want is a expensive item with problems, read a lot of people have the same problem with 2.4ghz band, mine worked for 1 day, now i have a 380$ brick

Reviews around setup (4.01 of 5)

  • Easy setup, with easy to use software that comes with a robust feature set for any home router
  • If you don't want to have to mess with your router or you want a "plug it in, turn it on, do the setup and it works", pass on this.
  • Setup can be as easy or as complex as you'd like it, but it has the ability to secure your network like no other
  • Easy setup with every kind of setting you can think of and then many you have to read the manual to find out what they do
  • We have slow internet (8Mb/s)

Reviews around speed (3.68 of 5)

  • Game room upstairs (with no doors in-between the router and the devices) had spotty connection and slow speeds.
  • The speeds get extremely slow and pings go way up, rebooting solves
  • No devices being dropped, better range, and faster speeds.
  • long story short the QOS (quality of service) thing in the router settings was freezing up my true internet speeds to do the complete opposite of what it claims
  • after a long timeline of a few days of buying a new modem from my ISP because i upgraded my internet previously and my old modem didnt support the new speeds, and got a new modem i still problems with super erratic download speeds

Reviews around range (3.67 of 5)

  • DON'T DO IT....if you don't like long range, fast internet
  • Since upgrading to this Router the range i get is Incredible, I pick up a signal all the way in my garage whereas before you couldn't walk outside at all
  • Range sucks and speed constantly fluctuates.
  • Works kind of, all the features advertised do work the range is what I would expect out of a home router unite
  • all gaming is done over cable not the wifi but the range is way better than the old tri band i had previously.

Reviews around signal (3.64 of 5)

  • I can reach my router from any room with a very strong signal and even walk about 100 feet away from my building and still reach it
  • Roommates had some issues receiving a signal from 5 other routers and I would have sworn it was magnetic
  • This is a great product..strong signal and easy to install
  • We had to upgrade our router due to terrible range and a signal that would constantly cutting in and out only a couple rooms away
  • So many features, STRONG WiFi signal, great for wired gaming as well adding no latency

Reviews around asus support (3.61 of 5)

  • This router is a complete pile of crap and ASUS support sucks just as bad.
  • I've been in touch with ASUS support multiple times and they have no answer
  • We have slow internet (8Mb/s)
  • ASUS support is really slow and told me that they couldn't troubleshoot because I'm not using it, in the NA region
  • Now I will need to contact ASUS support to hopefully replace all of the antennas.

Reviews around strength (3.57 of 5)

  • Signal strength is marginally better than my old one but not that much better.
  • My only complaint whatsoever is the signal strength in one room in a 2900sf house, but even that room now runs better than ever before
  • We have had poor signal strength with others used
  • And overall this router never even had a good signal strength for its price
  • The signal strength seems weaker than my RT-AC5300

Reviews around product (3.36 of 5)

  • So I bought and paid for a "NEW" router and received a DEFECTIVE product and by the time I figured that out 30 days had passed and so far have not gotten satisfaction in the form of another "new" Router unit.
  • 26 years of IT background and have never experienced tech support for a product this bad.
  • I politely declined the offer to spend hundred to potentially repair a defective product, and ended by business relationship with Asus.
  • For a $400 router, this is a huge waste of money and cannot in good conscience recommend this product to anyone.
  • This been a great product so far and works as described.

Reviews around thing (3.19 of 5)

  • The thing looks menacing, so it is not a nice addition to your decor, but it is amazing.
  • The best thing about ASUS is the Tech support is free unlike the other brands
  • The other nice thing is the app, it quickly lets me look at everything going on and control it without having to log into an HTLM page on my
  • This thing is screaming fast with very very consistent high speed throughput
  • Computer to computer downloads on your network are super fast! One thing you should watch out for is the UI if you are using a Mac to access it.

Reviews around firmware (2.12 of 5)

  • I called tech support (asus) and we back dated the firmware and it worked for about an hour
  • I really wanted to love this router.. unfortunate the firmware and hardware where pretty bad.
  • Did not like the fact that I had to update the firmware immediately so the wired lan would work
  • Poor performance is now shadowed by a bad firmware update
  • The firmware was initially a little goofy but after the latest update it seems to be really stable

Reviews around connection (2.11 of 5)

  • Bought the router and set it up, wired connections seemed to work ok but the wireless connection refused to connect to devices even resetting the devices and re-establishing the wiress connect
  • Game room upstairs (with no doors in-between the router and the devices) had spotty connection and slow speeds.
  • I found it best to put it in auto frequency, so devices attaching will be places on the 2 or 5 gig based on what they can achieve for the best and fastest connection
  • Enabling Any of these combinations causes all wired and wireless devices to lose connection to the internet
  • I thought I would have a super connection in my house but the connected devices received the same wireless signal as my other Asus router

Reviews around issue (1.95 of 5)

  • 4 smart TV’s.
  • There are a lot of annoying UI issues such as not being able to rename connected devices (after the first few are done).
  • A few days after those issues started while working to resolve
  • The only other thing I can point at is the electronics are failing over time causing the issue
  • Must of been a firmware update that help fix alot of the smart connect issues.

  • Same generic reply from ASUS Loyalty Rep to all poor reviews, an there are MANY
  • I've read some great and some good reviews about the GT-AC5300
  • I was hoping all the negative reviews were just unlucky
  • Maybe they A11000 will be better but the reviews on that showed that there was some problems with intel
  • Ignore all these bad reviews as they seem to be related to old firmware

Reviews around customer (1.85 of 5)

  • I've been a loyal ASUS customer for many years and have chosen their wireless routers over the competition consistently
  • The Asus RT-AC5300 "Tri-band" Router was an expensive disappointment that combined technical failure with abysmal customer service.
  • And I hope I never have to talk with their useless customer service again.
  • ASUS has atrocious customer service unless you reach corporate, so consider yourself warned.

Reviews around wire (1.42 of 5)

  • Since most devices were either hard-wired to the router or communicated on 5Ghz channel, I did not realize the 2.4Ghz channel was defective (not-broadcasting, despite radio being "on" on the UI and the LED service-light illuminated) until I was past RMA-time.
  • Fast on every level, wired and wireless, with wired obviously speedier.
  • It started dropping off hard wired connections between my NASs and my flat screen TVs, eventually the wireless connections with my smart phone also became completely unreliable
  • Enabling Any of these combinations causes all wired and wireless devices to lose connection to the internet
  • My network consists of a 2 pcs (gaming and streaming) hard wired, and on WiFi a 4k tv, an iPad, a laptop, and my cell phone
