The Netgear router I had before this one had better coverage

Coverage was spotty and eventually we noticed that our devices were connecting to the bedroom RT-

If you enable game boost and QOS every few minutes the router basically locks up and eventually reboots repeadidly

Enabling any of the router features such as QoS, Game Boost, VPN, Firewall, etc, causes the router to lock up

Setup can be as easy or as complex as you'd like it, but it has the ability to secure your network like no other

Game room upstairs (with no doors in-between the router and the devices) had spotty connection and slow speeds.

The speeds get extremely slow and pings go way up, rebooting solves

No devices being dropped, better range, and faster speeds.

long story short the QOS (quality of service) thing in the router settings was freezing up my true internet speeds to do the complete opposite of what it claims

after a long timeline of a few days of buying a new modem from my ISP because i upgraded my internet previously and my old modem didnt support the new speeds, and got a new modem i still problems with super erratic download speeds

Since upgrading to this Router the range i get is Incredible, I pick up a signal all the way in my garage whereas before you couldn't walk outside at all

I can reach my router from any room with a very strong signal and even walk about 100 feet away from my building and still reach it

ASUS support is really slow and told me that they couldn't troubleshoot because I'm not using it, in the NA region

Now I will need to contact ASUS support to hopefully replace all of the antennas.

Signal strength is marginally better than my old one but not that much better.

My only complaint whatsoever is the signal strength in one room in a 2900sf house, but even that room now runs better than ever before

So I bought and paid for a "NEW" router and received a DEFECTIVE product and by the time I figured that out 30 days had passed and so far have not gotten satisfaction in the form of another "new" Router unit.

I politely declined the offer to spend hundred to potentially repair a defective product, and ended by business relationship with Asus.

For a $400 router, this is a huge waste of money and cannot in good conscience recommend this product to anyone.

I thought I would have a super connection in my house but the connected devices received the same wireless signal as my other Asus router

I've been a loyal ASUS customer for many years and have chosen their wireless routers over the competition consistently

The Asus RT-AC5300 "Tri-band" Router was an expensive disappointment that combined technical failure with abysmal customer service.

And I hope I never have to talk with their useless customer service again.

ASUS has atrocious customer service unless you reach corporate, so consider yourself warned.

Since most devices were either hard-wired to the router or communicated on 5Ghz channel, I did not realize the 2.4Ghz channel was defective (not-broadcasting, despite radio being "on" on the UI and the LED service-light illuminated) until I was past RMA-time.

Fast on every level, wired and wireless, with wired obviously speedier.

It started dropping off hard wired connections between my NASs and my flat screen TVs, eventually the wireless connections with my smart phone also became completely unreliable
