if i could find a vpn worth a merde i would work on getting a tls p2p vpn on port 443 but vpns have so many problems - of the 6 i have worked with nordvpn was the best and not a bad price at 75 bucks for 2 years
For a state of the art dual-band AC router, the price was very reasonable.
I could tell you other outstanding features of this device, but the bottom line is this: If you are looking for a powerful high-speed wireless router at an unbelievable price, buy this one right here....you will not regret it.
This router does everything you could want at a good price
Great price and great router works as good as a 200$ dual band router
Very, very, very easy setup, great web interface and very useful features like VPN and AiCloud
it has plenty of great features for the average home user
Great range and more features then most people will ever use.
I give it 4 stars only because it lacks some features on the more expensive routers I feel like the router could have handled like the TrendMicro suite and the security review (which actually be a Merlin firmware function) and there is no Merlin firmware for it
It has good range and all the basic features you expect from a router
Conclusion:Very good coverage and speed for small house or apartment
I have a 1500 square foot home and get good coverage throughout the house and in my backyard
The router does have excellent signal strength and coverage throughout the house.
Router has excellent coverage (my home had plaster walls - difficult for wifi), Features VPN capability, security features, a lot of flexibility as far as how you can configure it
However, for most users will be an excellent router, with great wifi coverage and very good price.

The dual band works great from the front of our house and connects all the way to the back
Love the Dual Band router, easy to connect and works super fast all across the house.
This is a dual band wireless router that supports 2.4 and 5 GHz frequencies.
I know there are a lot of other expensive AC dual-band routers as well but this one serves its purpose for a small to mid-size apartments at an much more reasonable price.
The 5g is seriously lacking in distance but that is also a factor of placement and distance, but its not any better than any of the others that I have used
Great so far with good 2g range and about the 5ghz range you'd expect in a long house with lots of walls in the way of the signal
Overall, the 5G is really fast, and the settings for both area networks are easily customization on ASUS' router pages
really good 2.4g range and speed with 10 devices running at same time but for 5
Pretty fast and stable with strong 5G signal throughout the house
Setup was easy and fast, range exceeds the old N but not by much but the transfer
Currently I have 19 devices throughout my house ( I know o_O) and have had zero connectivity issues for two weeks
The dual-band is amazing and I've had great coverage all over my home, as well as quick D/U speeds on my mobile devices.
Roku may have their own problem but now Macbook pro, iphone are also having 5Ghz connectivity issues
My old router constantly had to be rebooted, this one has worked flawlessly since I hooked it up, I run several smart devices of this router and haven't had any connectivity issues.
Internet has been seamlessly fast, no interruptions while videos or issues with conference calls.
Tested with 5GHz only (Comcast, speed over Ethernet cable is about 105 Mbps peak.)5 - 15 ft away: Speed in the living room, near the router, nothing in between, is about 70-75 Mbps.20 - 30 ft away: In the kitchen area, nothing in between, speed drops pretty quickly to about 45-54 Mbps.30 ft +: In the bed room and bathroom area, behind at least one wall and a door, Speed is slower but very stable useable (two HD video streams), about 35-38 Mbps

Streaming video from Amazon Prime or Netflix was miserable, checking the Netflix connection speed only yielded 5.5 - 8.5 mbps, causing constant buffering and freezing of the stream, then always shutoff
However, when using the 5GHz, the range is VERY poor, -80dBm with 2 walls in between at any point (less than 10 meters/33 feet distance), and hence my 4 stars
So for now I do all wireless but speeds are just fine so 4 stars.
I gave this device 4 stars because one of the parts didn't work at the Gigabit speeds
Amazon customer service was very helpful in resolving this after the fact as unfortunately happened here, and I give them a solid 5 stars for their customer service.
I was nervous about replacing it!6/7 update: lost 2 stars, as nearly all setting changes cause the router to go offline for at least 2 minutes while it's "applying settings." Even more aggravating - and a showstopper - is that i often end up with no wireless capability after it comes back.
They can claim on the phone anything is a software issue and then just start asking for money for set up fee's or deny warranty and this was on something received the same day
but the range isn't as great as I would've imagined

The problem is that they will not honor their 2 year warranty

Has been very reliable with only a few times needing to reboot to correct signal dropping.
4 hours straight of Bob Ross and there was no intermittent network drops
Only complaint is that is has dropped 5Ghz a couple of times
I can play mp4 video files that are dropped on the USB drive by simply going into Windows Explorer, dragging the file to an open tab on CHROME and even casting it to my Chromecast by clicking on the plug in
I pulled out the extender I needed previously to get to a dead spot - don't need it with the extended range of the ASUS router.
Also since my apartment is not large this router provided great coverage and all the dead spots I had with my previous router govt very well covered with this
Coverage is good in a tri-level home with no dead spots.
Also since my apartment is not large this router provided great coverage and all the dead spots I had with my previous router govt very well covered with this
We live in a 2 story house and have not had any dead spots anywhere in the house
But the hard drive is older and I'm not very good with configuration.
(hello D-Link...), the ASUS router's USB jack works just fine for plugging in a portable USB drive to serve an an informal NAS drive for my home to store music and video files for playback via Windows networking
Didn't test: guest network (2.4 GHz only).USB Drive:Usable, but as many have noted
The USB port with file sharing makes setting up a NAS as easy as plugging in a external hard drive.
But I am able to stream video directly off a portable USB drive without issue
but instead, you lose the connection to the device, and a manual reset in mandatory in order to gain access again
This router will now shut itself off after 1 day (all lights turn off, no connectivity) and become a brick until hard reset
Once reset, it works
After reading a bit more on the subject, I did the hard reset, & was able to log back into the router
After calling ASUS and mucking around with it for 2 hours to no avail, I finally figured out out all I had to do was soft reset (power cycle reset that is, hard reset will reset everything to factory)
You will now be disconnected from RT-ACRH13.To access the settings of RT-ACRH13, reconnect to the wireless network and use the updated IP address and port number
Second, my wired interface's IP address and port number should be unchanged
I returned the Norton cube because I couldn’t configure local ip’s to work with all my static ip’s
If you don't care about ipv6 connectivity this is a good router, and it would probably work with a static IP, but if you have regular residential Comcast internet, you aren't getting ipv6
For instance, if you decide to set a static IP for a device, once you click save the "applying changes" takes more than a minute, at which time EVERY device including hardwired devices lose connectivity to the router

Actual data throughput and WiFi coverage will vary from network conditions and environmental factors, including the volume of network traffic, building material and construction, and network overhead, result in lower actual data throughput and wireless coverage.
